JJ, 13 Mar 2019Thanks for info, still got a few questions more. I'm only interested with camera difference... moreThe fundamental difference between Sony IMX586 and Samsung GM1 camera sensors is that the IMX586 uses Quad Bayer array to calculate the pixel color of the surrounding nearby pixels and then converts by using a pixel signal processing independent structure to real-time output a total of 48 million pixels. Essentially, the photosensitive units of the IMX586 can each individually display and output data independent of the other elements and the 48MP photo is straight out of the hardware with no major software tweaking going on. So, it can achieve true 48 million pixels by transforming the pixel structure, which makes the photo have a stronger resolution, and can be more clear after zooming, which is also the highest pixel.

Meanwhile, the output of the Samsung GM1 sensor is a little different and uses a traditional 2×2 array to recognize the same color and can only output data collectively. The photos output by the GM1 sensor is not essentially very different from the output of a 12MP sensor. The data displayed on the Samsung Official website confirms this and the specification clearly states a resolution of 4000 x 3000 adding up to 12 million pixels or 12 Mega-pixels.
The rest of the work is done on the software end using pixel interpolation to theoretically come up with a 48MP resolution

IN SIMPLE LANGUAGE, The basic difference between the IMX586 and the Samsung GM1 is that Sony IMX586 sensor can achieve true 48MP resolution image making the photo have a sharper resolution and the resultant images are also sharper after zooming.
The GM1’s 48 million pixels is essentially 12 million pixels.
Its like you said, Even if the phone can output 48 megapixel photos, it is more like interpolation. The IMX586 is truly a traditionally defined 48 million pixel.

Finally, I would like to state some facts. We buy these phones as consumers. We are not professionals. Even if you buy the best camera, what is its use to you? Are you going to print those photos?
They have enormous size. So you cannot share those on the Social media.

But in case you are like me, I want to buy RN7P with Sony sensor because I want to click good photos for my own pleasure. I am not a professional. But they are for my own collection. I consider photography as a record of memory and I want them to be clear and good. I am personally hoping use better performance from the camera with 3rd party Apps and custom ROMs.

I'm only interested with camera differences in global version Redmi Note 7 vs PRO for Europe.
Redmi Note 7 - 48MP Samsung Isocell GM1 - limited by interpolation to 12MP, right?
Redmi Note 7 PRO - 48MP Sony IMX58 - unlimited, real 48MP, and better than Samsung, is it correct?
Is it really worth waiting a bit more in Europe for PRO version with Sony camera?
Will PRO Global Version in Europe come with Sony camera?
Do you have any samples of the same pic's made with Samsung and Sony sensor?
What makes Sony sensor so much better?

JJ, 13 Mar 2019is there (for now or planned with future updates) any difference in camera /hardware or softw... moreThe basic difference will be with the camera unit. Global Version comes with Samsung's 48MP sensor where as the pro version launched in India has Sony's 48MP Sensor. According to the tests conducted, Sony's sensor trumps all.
The RN7 released in china is going to be the same unit for global edition. check out the unboxers and reviewers on youtube from china and hongkong. You will get the idea.

Another major difference is about the memory variants. RN7 Global comes with 3/32 and 4/64 only.

Another difference is about the SOC used. which is universal. SN660 is used in RN7 and SN675 in RN7P. 675 is better in everything than 660. If you are looking to use this phone for gaming or long term use, I would suggest you go for RN7P.
If you are going to use it mainly for Camera, Go for the 6/128 variant in RN7P. It has a better sensor and better storage. The 48 MP photos go for 15-20MB in size, each.

To answer the other question, Mi is going to provide extra features for Camera over the OTA. According to what I know, this is going to be for both the phone in India. As they have not yet listed the RN7 on the global website yet, its not sure.

TO CONCLUDE, In my opinion, you should decide on the type of usage you are looking for. For gaming, good Camera go for RN7P-6/128GB. For a good phone for generic usage like whatsapp, calls, email, instagram, FB, twitter, etc go for RN7 GE.

Redmi note 7 have emmc 5.1 whereas Redmi note 7 pro have emmc 5.0. They have skipped this part on product page of their official website. This is so pathetic. why such cost cutting for higher variant?

Why redmi note 7 using emmc 5.1 whereas redmi note 7 pro using emmc 5.0? They skipped this part in specs section on mi official site whereas emmc 5.1 is clearly mentioned on redmi note 7 product page. This is so wrong.

any difference in camera /hardware or software/
between redmi note 7 - global version 48MP vs PRO version?
can redmi note 7 - global version 48MP take identical shots as the PRO ?
or is it somehow limited to 12MP by interpolation/software?

I'd like to get normal version but this is decisive for me.
Is it worth waiting for PRO and paying a bit more?
Standard version is going to be released tomorrow in my country,
PRO I guess within a month or even later.
