Mediatek processor never upgr... moreObviously, you comment is based on what you have heard, not what you have experienced. Who told you that mediatek don't update to next version. Sure mediatek don't have the enviable record of Qualcomm, but depending on the OEM, mediatek phones do receive update. My Doogee Mix came out with version 6, it later received update to 7. Same with my Elephone S7. From the impressive performance of this chip, G90T, I think mediatek has finally waken up. The are ready to take up Qualcomm and the chip and the Dimensity 1000 chip for next year, means people should start taking the company serious.

A honest review, no exaggeration. Here's what i felt..
I bought it on 11th Dec 19. A big display (doesn't need to be sup.amoled), powerfull processor, good battery, premium looks all what i wanted & this phone stands up to the mark for me.
Antutu score - 285862
Battery life - first 2 days i used it heavily & screen on time i got was 10 hrs approx with 1 day usage.
In next full charge i got 8 hrs of screen on time with 2 day use..i consider it to be good.
Display : It has a big display which i like it that way. im not a super amoled display fan. very responsive screen. Easy to see in sunlight.
Free Tip : Download Nova Launcher Prime Apk app and give it a stock android feel, use icon packs & gestures etc..,
Sensors : I tested all sensors in antutu app.. every thing was fine. call quality is perfect.
Temperature : 32 Degree before benchmark test and 41 degree after benchmark test. thats normal, no major heating issues. I don't play PUBG Or COD. Just COC and some light games, that't it.
Sound : loud enough. I was able to hear ringtone in city traffic. Set a loud ringtone.
Camera : Stock Cam performs well except it sometimes sharpens the image more. I liked night mode and normal photo camera. 64 MP Cam and wide angle mode didn't impressed much, but they are still useful.
I wish to download Working version of gcam..does anyone know where can i get??
Looks : very premium, i got shadow black color. having its weight at 200 gms makes it feel premium.
Charging Time : 2 hrs approx.
UI : Very snappy. no lag what so ever. Got MIUI 11.. Dark mode steals my heart.
Memory : 3.6 GB idle memory in 6 gb ram vareient.
Things that are debatable are :
1) I got a small hair line scratch but hardly visible in first 2 day use. i didn't wait and got quality tempered glass applied on it.
2) All i ask is timely android, ui and security updates till coming 2 years. So that it completely restores my faith in mediatek processors. And obviously our phone doesn't get outdated early.
3) Plz make camera more better in coming updates, i feel it can perform much better. cuz its a powerful camera, only its camera app has not been calibrated according to it. (eg : wide angle cam quality 64 mp cam quality is not good as said on paper)
Overall : It's a great phone. Very much recommended. Xiaomi did their sincere efforts towards Redmi note 8 pro build quality and user experience.

Micromax a1, the first generation android one device had mediatek processor in it.
Launching with KitKat, the phone received lollipop and marshmallow.
It is the shitty oem that not updating the phone. Mediatek have very little to do with it.

It totally deepens on the xiaomi developers whether they would push out updates or not not processor based. Rn8 pro will surely get android 10. All xiaomi phones supports 2 years android upgrade and later on ROM updates so forth.

Dr MU, 17 Dec 2019I have iPhone 6s plus. I want to upgrade to this phone. Yes or No ?6S is a light small phone with bad battery life, this phone is just the opposite, heavy, big and has excellent battery life. I guess this will be an upgrade in most respects to the 6s but for most people the weight and size can be somewhat uncomfortable experience, more so if coming from a small phone.

My Realme 3 lasts 7+ hours in PUBGM on Smooth graphics. It goes up to 10 hours if I reduce frames to High. It has 12nm chipset.
Redmi Note 8 Pro has a much better chipset than Realme 3.

Because it has snapdragon chipset and it will get updates untill android 11 but redmi note 8 pro even dont get android 10 because of mediatek chipset
Redmi note 8 is very smooth but redmi note 8 pro has some lags
You can take pictures with note 8 with google camera app better than note 8 pro and you cant install gcam on redmi note 8 pro because of mediatek processor
Also redmi note 8 has much better loudness and sound quality
Also you can use 2sim+1sd card on note 8 but with note 8 pro just 2 sim or 1sim+1sd card
