after the recent 12.0.3 update the phone auto brightness works flawlessly,even tho it was a security i think the auto brightness issue is fixed now

I moved from Samsung and HTC to Xiaomi Note 8 pro. I use the Phone for everyday use, Internet, Email, Phone, Videos.
So far so good. Screen is great, no overheating, battery life is great. No serious issues with The Phone. In the Box you get Silicon mask. It happens that some App crashes once in a while, notting serious. Also when making a Phone all, if you move a Phone around the ear it happens that Screen Lights and then you push Mute with your ear. IT happened few Times. I even dropped it few Times and phone survived. I would definitely consider again Xiaomi for my next purchase. Considering what you get for money, Xiaomi is great. I am satisfied with the Phone.

xSavagex, 15 Sep 2020Does this phone will receive update at android 11 and MIUI 13?It will take miui 13 and maybe miui 14, but upgrading to android 11 is very difficult for this device. Redmi 1 promises major updates. I don't think Redmi will want to lose customers.

Vifor, 18 Sep 2020I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro and it got automaticaly updated to MIUI 12.0.1 What it means is not interface updates, it meets Redmi miui updates smoothly but promises only 1 major android update. Most Redmi users learn about this afterwards. rn8pro went on sale with android 9 and offered android 10 without any trouble, but it will not offer Android 11 on sight.

It looks like it won't upgrade to android 11. If Xiaomi does this to a device that is not even 1 year old, the customer is sure to lose. Samsung promises 3 years of major updates to mid-range and high-end devices. Redmi 1 promises major updates and provides miui interface updates for a long time. Limiting this device to 1 big update just because it's cheap is xiaomi cut its way and would be a big blow to redmi fans. Miui updates can be nice, but android updates are important to keep the device up to date. I'm sure most Redmi users don't know about this. Using a Mediatek processor does not prevent it from receiving updates. Mediatek is doing better now and ready to be a solid competitor.

beast i'm using this phone for last 8months no issue everything is perfext also my game run smoothly but some time its drops some fps in pubg when some one rush on us

Honor 20 lite or some other? I'm interested in everything first

Xiaomi wants us to trash the phone after a year. After all, it will not send android 11 to a phone that went on sale in 2019. I think I'm going to sell Redmi note 8 pro and xiaomi is no longer an option for me

Not a samsung fan or a Xiaomi Fan.
Here is my honest opinion!
Note 8 pro has Glass front and back so it is bit heavy than M31. While M31 gives you plastic back which will start to lose colour after a while. LCD HD+ plus so might not compare well to Amoled screen of M31. G90T processor is not really a gaming processor, it is more like good performance processor no matter how much they promote it as a gaming phone. It is not honestly. Doesn't heat playing low end games but high end games will heat a lot but if you stop playing for a while, the liquid cooling will cool it quick. You can't really trust helio chipsets but exynos are not better either. And, note 8 pro is using g76 so gives better gaming performance but can heat up due to mediatek. Note 8 pro is using a good performance a76 while m31 is using a73 so performance difference will be there. Camera wise there is no difference and I can say note 8 pro can take decent photos. Not the best on camera though. The wifi power is actually stronger in note 8 pro. Finger print and face unlock is really fast in note 8 pro well certainly better than j6 samsung set I used before. And, don't go into the hype of samsung saying 6000 mah will last longer cause it is about the optimization cause with 15 watt charger, it will take like 2.5 hours to full charge. I am using note 8 pro so it take around 2 hours to full charge with 18 watt charger so not really a fast charge with note 8 pro either.
And, regarding samsung One UI, it normally breaks down within a year or so cause I guess it is not better optimised. The MIUI seems to be better optimised but it can have ads which can be disabled easily through settings.
Like, with note 8 pro, I got like app stopped working message like only twice in 8 months so better in that prospect I guess.
So, I would say if you want good display, okay camera, decent performance then go for M31 but if you want okay display, okay camera and good performance (with heating in games), then go for note 8 pro.

Multazam, 12 Sep 2020Does g90t has that much heating issues?not that much, after 1 hour of pubg it gets hot but the liquid cooling system will reduce temp if you stop playing for 5 minute
