Skype Microsoft PayPal Mobile software Online services iOS Android

Skype and PayPal have announced the integration of their respective services today. This applies to the Skype mobile apps for Android and iOS, in 22 countries in total. Here's the full list: the US, the UK, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain.

If you live in one of those places, have a PayPal account, and use Skype for Android or iOS, you're in luck. A new version of Skype for the two leading mobile platforms has started rolling out today. Once you get it, you'll be able to easily send people money through PayPal, straight inside the messaging app.

Here's how it works. While you're in a conversation with a person you want to send some cash to, select the Find option on the top bar, and choose to Send Money. Then you type in the amount to send, and confirm the payment. That's it.

Do however note that this functionality is designed for sending money to friends and family, and not for payments of goods or services from businesses. The PayPal rates are exactly the same as they would be if you used its peer-to-peer payments on other platforms.
