Just like its name implies, YouTube Music is all about listening to music that's on YouTube. Everything in the app is designed for this purpose, so, for example, when you make a search only music results pop up - unlike what would happen if you use the YouTube app.
The home tab recommends tracks for you and creates personalized stations based on your tastes, while the app lets you effortlessly discover new artists. In addition to quickly finding videos, songs, and albums, in YouTube Music you'll also see the remixes, covers, lyric videos, and concert footage that's on YouTube.
If you're a YouTube Red subscriber, then you'll experience YouTube Music without ads. You also get to listen to music offline and switch to an audio-only mode if you want, where the music keeps playing even if you turn your phone's screen off or jump to another app. That said, YouTube Music is free to download - and you can use it without paying, though without the aforementioned premium features. To get a taste of what you're missing if you go that route, Google is giving you a 14-day trial of the "amplified experience" brought to you by Red.
