ZTE Android

ZTE announced the Axon 7 in May. Since then, the phone has gone up for pre-order in several European countries, and now it's finally time for it to land in the US as well.

You can pre-order an Axon 7 in Ion Gold starting today from ZTE's own US online store, or Amazon. It's priced at $399.98 and will start shipping on July 27. If you'd rather have the Quartz Gray color, you'll have to wait until August 17 for shipping to start, unfortunately.

The handset is thankfully even less expensive than we previously heard it would be, so it represents pretty good value for money. Then again, so does the almost identically-priced OnePlus 3.

The Axon 7 has a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED touchscreen, a 20 MP main camera with dual-tone LED flash, an 8 MP secondary cam for selfies, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, and a 3,250 mAh battery. It's powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. It runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with ZTE's MiFavor UI 4.0 on top.

Not available here unlike 1+3. Stupid QHD screen on a phone which only causes throttling and battery drainage. More expensive then 1+3. Worse OS support then 1+3. 1+3 wins for me, but this one holds a nice 2nd place, then at 3rd S7.

Lots of Chinese variant reviews out there for the Axon 7. States variant will have many tweeks to camera software and a few upgrades. ZTE really wants to be a big player in the US market with a high spec phone and it looks like they aren't taking any...
