For anyone needs a better battery, Motorola store has BX81 (1380mAh) with thicker battery door for US $49. I am using it now. It fits perfectly.
I would like to ask if you can text message AND listen to music at the same time..?
when I try to connect to my Windows Live account, I'm getting an error message:
but my Java is enabled.
I've been checking, reading & answering my SMS using the external screen without having to flip open the V8. From what I know, it's a built-in feature and not network dependent. My previous Z3 does not have this feature.
Initially, you need some time to get yourself used to this feature. I personally don't find it tough or inconvenient. It's just like getting yourself adjusted to a new computer game after finishing the other, the buttons and keys are somewhat different but no big deal. Now I found it useful. The volume control buttons (up / down) is to control the "cursor" movement and the other button next to it is to select, like the ENTER button in your computer keyboard. When you receive a text message, simply press the "enter" button to view, then press it again to select REPLY and press it again to select which draft template to use. Scroll up / down to choose and press "enter" to select. Press enter again and again to send out your reply, it's that simple. Another thing is you can draft your own template and save it for future use, anything you prefer. The haptic technology Motorola provide is really good, you basically know whether the phone acknowledge your command or not when you press the button - it vibrates very slightly, something no other phone has in the industry right now. Good job Motorola.
For me, I don't utilize the games feature & Music player although I frequently use the camera for emails and print outs. The 2.0MP serves me well so far. So my V8 is purely for business and friend's calls and I demand the best in clarity and reception in any phone I use, so Motorola is my choice.
in reference to checking sms on the external screen - i've heard differing opinions. is this a standard feature on the V8, or is it network dependent? some say they can check, others say they can't.
as i'm buying it outright online, i'd like to know b4 putting down my hard earned cash! :P
What's Not:The flip catches fingerprints & you should always clean the phone when the flip is full of fingerprints
What's Needed:Timer stopwatch
Thanks for thecharger info I'll look into that.I have to agree with you that it's unlikely that the new battery cover can make the V8 any less elegant than it is.
As for the that 1200mah USD5.50 battery I'm staying far away from it. I'm with you in not trusting the cheap Chinese products. No offence to any Chinese members here but the majority of their dirt cheap products have a very bad reputation.
Sorry, don't know why the website was shown in shrunk mode the last time. I'll try to put it up again this time - http://cgi.ebay.com/1200mAh-Hi...cmdZViewItem
Just check this Ebay website out on V8's 1200Mah BX-40 battery I found just now. http://cgi.ebay.com/1200mAh-Hi...mdZViewItem.
I'm not very confident with the Chinese prints and it's dirt cheap. Sometimes too cheap to believe. Honestly, I won't try it, maybe someone reading this in the future might and I would welcome their feedback.
Thanks for the info, I'll also check with the tech guy from Motorola Service Centre about the cover you were saying. I bet even with the "thicker" cover, the V8 is still one of the most elegant looking thin phone around today.
I don't really have a serious problem so far with the battery but it's good to know what's available in case if you need it. I was surfing just couple of hours ago and found a simple portable charger for V8, not the Motorola P790 but a smaller unit than P790, using AA size battery to charge the phone, selling at USD 12.99. Amazing simple solution! Design? It's just a cylindrical case to house one AA battery with the micro USB cable attachment at the other end of the casing. Right now with my car charger and the PC sync cable connection, (it starts to charge once connected with the PC) the battery stand by and talk time are not an issue anymore.
Well, got the info. There is a different back cover for the bigger/V9 battery that actually fits the V8. It increases the thinness/thickness of the phone by about 1.5cm. Available from Motorola of course. Was running a bit late for my meeting so couldn't get other details like price and a few other things. Am considering it though I love the flat cover on my V8, wish they could just make the same 7 series battery with a higher capacity though. Also I need to see how it would look like with that cover.
Motorola V8 is an awesome phone!! The latest ones with a thicker battery (3mm thicker) making it more efficient than the latter models!! The battery back up is awesome in spite of heavy usage everyday... Yes! You can set the profile to "vibrate+ring".. ring tone n vibration works together!... Has windows media 11 player! Works like a breeze..Excellent sound quality! Impeccable style! Excellent call quality with crystal clear technology (a micro processor in the phone which controls the call quality resulting in eradication of environment soun while enhancing the voice of the caller n the receiver) ... user friendly for text messaging.. better than t9!
you're very welcome! It is an absolutely wonderful phone.
Yeah, it would be a waste of money if it turns out that the V9 battery cover doesn't fit the V8. The bluetooth does eat your battery up. Unfortunately I have to use a bluetooth headset when I'm driving.
I'll have the info on the cover tomorrow.
thanks for ur response - that really helped...i might actually get the V8 now! :)
Thanks and would appreciate your feedback on the battery. Better confirm whether the 960Mah fits into V8, if not don't waste your money.
Today I charged my V8 in my car for about 30 minutes at around 4pm having removed my overnight charge at about 8am. My usage today seems heavy and it's not too bad for a 740Mah. Another battery zapping factor I noticed is if the bluetooth is on and connected at all time. To be fair, this happens to all other brands too.
that as well. I
think that person

you can set it to

I prefer the latter.

hi, i've just got 2 quick questions:
1)can the V8 be set to ring and vibrate at the same time? bcoz i read somewhere online that it can't.
2)i've been a nokia/SE user for past 3yrs, and very used to t9 smsing...is the itap used in motorola hard to get used to?
any help would be appreciated - thanks!
Just received my RAZR 2 V8. Brilliant. Had too many other makes to mention but this is the best. Pity no 3G. We can't have everything. Sorry I did't switch to Motorola years ago. This Razr 2 V8 is top of the class. The rest nowhere. Thank a million Motorola for a wonderful phone. Even here in the Irish Midlands, the signal reception is exceptional. Great battery as well. Heaven sent.
