Notice the strange thing about the split?
50.1% Male
50.9% Female
101% Total ... where did the extra 1% come about?

No surprise to see the usual comments from Apple and Android fanboys.
As I see it, what's really telling about these statistics is that Windows Phone has less than half the market share that Windows MOBILE has. If that isn't a clear death sentence for Nokia, I don't know what is.

Don't worry Microsoft. That 1.7 WP marketshare will soon be at least 30%. Just hang on and Nokia will flood the US market with Android killers. The Americans are going crazy on the Lumias and soon, WP's marketshare will be on the rise.

Isn't it erroneous to compare two OSes that have different target groups? Android may be installed on devices worth 100Euro...iPhone is unique and costs 6 times up.
Cannot understand how this "analysis" works and for whose benefit.

> In reply to Babin08 @ 2012-05-07 18:29 from K5gS - click to readThe subsidized prices of iphone are between free and $299. The Iphone 4s is $599 unlocked. This is cheaper than the GSIII, HTC One X, LG Prada, and many others. Android does make cheaper mid-range phones also. But, that's because they believe in consumer choice rather than the "one size fits all" policy of apple.

> In reply to appleandroid @ 2012-05-07 19:54 from kWMZ - click to readNo one prevents apple from releasing more than 1 x phone per year. They do it by their own choice and create millions of them. They create 3 x memory choices in 2 x colors (equals more than 1 x phone). Lack of fragmentation is supposed to increase their sales and market share. If they made more than 1 x phone, it would only reduce the sales and market share of their current phone. The "only 1 phone" thing is an old excuse. Apple has a lot of smart people working for them. I'd imagine that if they thought they would make more money by releasing more phones, then they would do just that.

No it doesn't but as a market research tool can help companies better cater to the needs of potential market. This kind of info along with information on what people use their phone on will also help

Well this stats is only for the US which constitutes to only about 10.4% of the total world population, the results of world market must be truly considered inorder to prove whether which company outshines the other :)

> In reply to SAMparrot @ 2012-05-07 20:04 from Lbwf - click to readlol. Well which part of that seems off? These are numbers. iPhone isn't available on prepaid or MetroPCS, but Android is. Having zero or bad cre means you gotta cough up 500 bucks to get on contract. Steep entrance price to be cool with an iPhone in a low income urban environment. Statistically, more black, asian and Hispanic people live there than whites.
Asians do have the stereotype of being a bit more tech-savvy than the rest (sans all the coders and hackers/IT professionals in every other race.
If anything is racist, ir's that there isn't a stat for the 5th race; indigenous people of America, or Indians.
