For me 5233 has been the best choice for me. Though it lacks 3g and gps, i don't miss those features as i don't find much use for both. But those planning on using these features might reconsider and pay that little extra to get the 5230. For me the neat thing is that i have no issues with my phone from the time i bought it. Everything works just fine out of the box. Well like everyone here complains there ain't any issues with the software part. It's much stable than it's predecessors. 5233 is indeed a tried and tested model. Almost every app that works on 5800 works flawlessly on this model too. The audio quality is also at par with 5800. So you don't have to make compromises here though you are only paying half as much. The neatest thing is that s60v3 apps are also compatable with this platform. So all n73 and n95 apps work without any fuss.
Bought a new 5230 last week. got updated to the latest 20..... version firmware. Everything works fine including ovi maps. but unable to start google maps after downloading and installing the application. The start up screeen only shows and it hangs there. If we see the connection manager we can see that it has downloaded some small amount of data via 3g/edge and then it hangs there. Anybody has installed google maps in 5230 with latest firmware?
really good to carry and work it is a complete package with 3g enabled , 3.2'' screen , symbian os

Dear sourab,5235 does have A-GPS n 3G...But its optimised for music so its like music edition of 5230....n nothing else even d sound quality of 5230 is enough please, its more than enough.
Sourav,it all depends on you...and i think that 5235 is just a 5230 ,but a, Music Edition one...it comes with an unlimited voucher for unlimited downloading of songs frm d OVI store...n of course they provide u wid 2GB SDCARD...it might be having a bigger internal memory...but about GPS I m not sure...
i went to a shop for puchasing Nokia 5230, but i dont purchase that phn bcoz i saw that nokia 5235 is arrived, and the sound quality of the headphn provided in the box is vry good, the price of the phn is Rs. 8600/-, and in the box they provide a 2 gb card also, which 5230 doesn't hav, so i want to knw that will that b worth buying because 5230 is available at 7450/-??
its gud but sound cuming 4m little bit less but if we use some other head phones it is gud.

Buddy, 09 May 2010Raw,i think u should look no further than 5233(rs6250,mumbai).its d best choice 4 u...its not ... moreIf you don't need 3G and GPS, 5233 is the model to buy. But GPS is actually a practical tool, and 3G makes surfing a lot faster.
the sound is good almous like an xpress music;)
Anonymous, 09 May 2010Can any 1 tell me abt 5230 sound...sound quality id decent thru my HP headset
but the headset tht comes with the set is really poor
tactile feebback is brilliant in this phone
the same symbian os with touch
there is a little bit of innovation introduced into the os
Raw,i think u should look no further than 5233(rs6250,mumbai).its d best choice 4 u...its not just a phone but a compact multimedia Pc.it will get all of ur work done.it'll satisfy ur needs,m 100% sure.n plz dont compare it wid cookie(rs5750,mumbai) n pep(rs6900) their interfaces lags like hell..n of course they are no smartfones either...although they feature multitasking..
i bought this 2 weeks ago. and i just discovered now that it's not a 3g. cause i cant make video call :(
I cant believe! a symbian S60 phone under 7K Rs. i have also found interesting features about this phone take alook at it.

Raj, 09 May 2010My phones restrated 4 time in one day now..
is there something i can do to refresh the phone
... moreWell there are many ways to make the phone zippy.
First up, remove all softwares installed on the phone memory and then install it onto the memory card. Leave atleast 30-40mb free space. If you have themes with visual and transition effects installed, goto themes and in options, settings, change theme effects to off. That should make the ui a bit zippy. The phone memory is very vulnerable so try not to do anything with the phone memory like installing apps. A corrupt app can easily corrupt the os leading to undesirable results.
Also try and get your phone software updated.
raw, 09 May 2010recently i read review of lg pep in gsmarena and they are saying that user interface and appli... moreOh it's just a propaganda gimmic... You cannot compare pep or cookie with 5233.
To begin with, cookie and pep are not smart phones. They are just touch screen feature phone. The lack of a proper software platform means that third party apps are confined to just java which is still inferior to symbian platform. And they cannot do proper multi tasking like symbian phones can. Their display is only a third the size in terms of resolution.
Poor battery, poor touch response, laggy UI, and poor after sales support are some of the things that plague lg phones in india.
The only good thing about pep os that it is much compact and good looking than 5233.
