It may be years before the tech advances to such a point the specs you want can be shoehorn into anything that is remotely ''fone''-size.

No hope for Nokia and terrible N97

The browser of the N97 is really cool, I haven't had any problems with the phone whatsoever when it comes to browsing the web. I think that you actually had bad luck with your N97.
If this is Nokia's flagship smartfone, it is doomed as a company / brandname. N97 SUCKS big time. The entire thing is cheap and plasticky feeling - some grey market China-made clone-fones feel better made than this one. The keyboard is small, un-tactile and un-ergonomic, and the toggle-wheel is too small and flat. The very idea of a smartfone having such a tiny screen also defeats the basic purpose - you go blind trying to browse the internet on such a small screen. The N97 cannot hold up a candle (or a wick, or even a match) to other competing products such as the iPhone or any HTC offerings. The whole concept underlying the N97 is badly thought-through and poorly-executed without an inkling of what the end-user needs or wants.
I just clicked on the SW update icon in the applications and the phones picks up a new Software (Version 12.0.026). How do I check the current Software on my phone?? I'm not so sure that this is the software that Nokia are due to release next month. Can anyone tell how to check the current SW on the N97 please?

I have had this phone now for 2.5 months, but for 4 weeks I did not have access to it as it was being foxed by both Nokia and the ISP. When I did eventually get it back, the problems returned. I was told the problem might be data related and so had to do without much of my data (where is the antivirus). I gate it a chance and when I got it back, I charged it.
When it was fully charged I went my way, but this time I decided I will my spare phone and use this sparinglyb. Well, after 5 or so hours of standby time, the phone was dead. When I got home, I recharged it but after two hours it had not fully recharged. Went to sleep, and disconnected the phone from the charger. Well, 6 hours later at about 3am, the phone demanded to be charged again. When I picked it up to recharge it, it was simply hot (not warm), extremely so. Now, I am getting used to the phone burning up, and seems to get cold only when charging.
I have had enough. I lived without Nokia for 5 years and though I have the Navigator, no more Nokia Smartphones for me, ever.
Anonymous, 21 Sep 2009How can they equip the flagship model wit a 434mhz processor, and give E52, E55... a 600mhz.th... morewhy haven't they used the 600Mhz chip on the N97? they used it on lower end models like the E52 and the E55.. Im really scratching my head on this one....
Hi just wondering how good the web browser is. Does it let you logon to your bank like the iphone or does it not allow it cause its unsecure?
hi...i want to know what is the loudest nokia N series phone on the market?thanks
Anonymous, 21 Sep 2009Thinking of getting this phone, just wondering if it has a slot for the cell phone accessories. What do you mean by "Slot for accessories"? Well it does have a 3.5mm pin for your earphones and a MicroUSB port for the charger and using the USB cable for connecting to a computer.
