Hi guys, I bought this mobile on last Friday(14-Dec-2012). It is a really awesome phone. Screen clarity is just awesome. I immediately updated to ICS. but some minor issues are there. 1- opening of phone/contact took lots of time. so as camera.
2. memory is low, just 2/3 running apps and only 40MB memory available. also it shows total memory approx 380 MB. i dont know where are rest memories gone...
3. though its 3.5" but width is pretty low. its about 1.7" screen. atleast 1.9 to 2" screen is required to type clearly in portrait mode...
If anyone having the idea how do I clear some ram memory.

rehan221, 17 Dec 2012anyone please tell me how to upgrade this fone to ics ?
[and also @Mohammad as below]
As of November 2012, ICS (Android 4.0.4, build 6.1.1.B.1.10) is now being rolled out to Xperia U phones. However it is a phased release, being made available to batches of phones at a time. Check under the battery for an eight-digit number (e.g. 1234-5678) - this is your SI number. Google for it, and you may find more information about if and when the upgrade will be available if it is not already. Note that unlike minor Gingerbread updates, you will not be alerted on your phone when the ICS upgrade is available, and you cannot upgrade over-the-air to your phone. To be absolutely sure of the upgrade availability, and to download and apply it, you must use the Sony Update Service or PC Companion software on your desktop or laptop.
Whether ICS would be a recommendable upgrade is a little more questionable, since the Xperia U is a little low on memory especially with all Sony's extras, so performance is likely to be a little sluggish. If you choose not to upgrade, Android 2.3.7 build 6.0.B.1.564 is generally held to be the most stable and recommended Gingerbread version and should continue to work fine.
nagz, 17 Dec 2012No jelly bean update for Xperia u. Very upset:( confirmed. Yep, seems that way. The way so many people got excited about one unofficial Facebook comment translated from Italian really was rather sad, and it was clear very early on that the reputed (and still waiting here) December release was only going to be a minor update, not JB. Hopefully they will persevere with updates to 4.0.x though, since there are a few bugs I'd like to see squashed.
I recently updated my phone to Android 4 using PC companion, however since then I am unable to download any applications on my phone. I can browse through internet but no applications can be downloaded. It gives me an error while downloading. I could download applications prior to upgrading my phone. Can any one please help?
great shape but worst because no expandable memory.if so more profitable for price range
ffffff, 17 Dec 2012pllzz cnfrm about memory space???The Xperia U has 8GB of built-in flash memory, and is not internally expandable. Of that, 4GB is available via USB (MTP protocol) for music, video, images etc. 2GB is reserved for phone storage, such as text messages and some applications - many applications are able also to use the main 4GB area. The remaining 2GB is hidden and used exclusively by the Android operating system. So the total memory available to users is 6GB, though only 4GB of that is directly accessible. Mentions of 56GB refer to the availability of an additional 50GB free on-line "cloud" storage.
Few days back my xperia u was giving good battery backup and "android os" was showing after "cell stand by" means android os was taking less battery than the cell stand by..
But now my phone is not giving good battery backup and "android os" is showing on 2nd no just after display which means that now android os is eating too much battery.
Kindly tell me the solution..
Xperia U is a very good mobile.
It is comparable in functions with Iphone 4g, Samsung Galaxy Ace2 & s plus, Nokia e7, Sony Ericson Arc S, HTC Desire X S.
Dual Core 1GHz, Dual Cam 5MP Primary, 8GB internal, USB on the Go, beautiful design, nice battery, normal sound, great display, nice LED fun lights.
Limited internal memory, 6GB and non extendable, not great sound, No HDMI, only these.
NEW price is $170, second hand at 125-140$.
at this price we only avail poor sets like htc desire c, samsung ace2, nokia 500, ipod 4g.
Suman, 17 Dec 2012Hi, I already updated to ICS. Is there any way to revert back. please.Officially, only by taking your phone to a Sony Service Centre and probably having to pay. Unofficially, if you root your phone AND have a copy of the 2.3.7 ROM, several webpages suggest you can use flashtool to revert, but that will obviously invalidate any warranty you may have. Before trying (or paying) to revert it's worth doing a factory reset - I and MANY others have found ICS works significantly better afterwards.
