ACCESS have just came up with a new version of their multi-platform NetFront web-browser. The latest NetFront Browser v4.0 is said to be the most advanced, versatile and powerful full Internet browser for mobile devices.

More specifically ACCESS promises that the new browser will handle Javascript with speeds up to 20 times faster than its predecessor (v. 3.5). In addition there are several major UI improvements such as faster drawing of the web sites and faster zooming.

The increased amount of downloads from mobile phones has also been noted by ACCESS and they have included the browser-embedded data compression/protocol optimization technology EBO (Embedded Browser Optimization) from Bytemobile. It is said to accelerate download speeds by up to four times compared to a regular non-EBO mobile browser.

Other cool features of the NetFront v4.0 include visual bookmarks, animated zooming and the page pilot (a mini map that facilitates browsing larger sites). Auto-form filling, multi-window support and text reflow complete the list of noteworthy features.

ACCESS NetFront v4.0 will be compatible with most platforms currently available on the market, including BREW, Android, Symbian S60, Windows Mobile etc. The supported CPUs include ARM, Xscale, StrongARM, PowerPC, MIPS, SH-Mobile and others.

Currently the only publicly available version is the WinMo-compatible Concept Version and it only works on WinMo 6.1 and earlier devices. We guess we will have to wait a little longer before we get a chance to try it out ourselves.
