Apple warns of limited iPhone Duo stock for walk-in buyers on launch day

Apple iOS

The iPhone Duo goes on sale this Friday, October 23, but if you were hoping to just walk into an Apple Store and pick one up, you may want to rethink that plan. In a statement, Apple says there will be "limited" availability for walk-in customers, and given the "extraordinary" demand since pre-orders began last week, it expects that supply to sell out quickly.

Limited walk-in stock will be available in the US, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, and the UK. Certain Apple Stores in Italy will have some too, though Apple didn't say which ones. In Macao, walk-in sales will only happen on launch day, and inventory will be limited there as well.

Things are stricter in France, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the UAE, where you won't be able to buy the Duo as a walk-in customer on launch day at all. Instead, you'll need to reserve a pickup time slot through Apple's online store. That's easier said than done for now - the store currently tells people to check back on Saturday, October 24, so it's unclear if reservations will even be possible on launch day itself.

Apple restricts walk-in sales in some countries partly to manage crowd sizes and partly to fight scalpers, which is also why it has capped iPhone Duo purchases at two per person. If you've already pre-ordered, there's some good news, as shipping dates have been pulled forward for many people after slipping all the way to January.

In case you need a refresher, the iPhone Duo comes with a 7.6-inch 1878x2670 foldable LTPO OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 5.4-inch 1398x2034 LTPO OLED cover display with 120Hz refresh rate, the A20 Pro chipset at the helm, 12GB of RAM and up to 2TB of storage, a 48MP main camera with sensor-shift OIS, a 48MP ultrawide, a 12MP selfie camera on the cover screen and a 4MP under-display one on the inner screen, a 4,883 mAh battery with 25W MagSafe/Qi2 wireless charging, an IP68 rating, and iOS 27.1. Pricing starts at $1,999, €2,299 in Germany, and £1,999 in the UK.
