Apple iPhone 17 Air tipped to measure just 6 mm thick

Apple iOS Rumors

Apple is reportedly going launch an iPhone 17 Air in September 2025, and expectations are the device to replace the Plus version, which has the least impressive sales in the current portfolio. The phone was initially rumored to be called iPhone 17 Slim, and today we get to learn its thickness.

According to a note by the Hong Kong-based investment bank Haitong, the iPhone 17 Air could measure around 6 mm. If that is really the case, this will be the thinnest iPhone ever, even thinner than the iPhone 6 with its 6.9 mm profile.

Apple could make iPhone 17 Air just 6 mm thin

Many unknowns are still in the air, pun intended, but we already have some details. The new iPhone should have a 6.6” screen and A19 chip (the vanilla variant, not a Pro).

It could have only one camera on the back, which might sound like a dealbreaker, but analyst Ming-Chi Kuo already stated that Apple is looking to “emphasize innovative form factor design”, so don't expect flagship-tier camera setup. We will be looking for more leaks and rumors because this new iPhone 17 Air is definitely a gamble on Apple's side.

To be honest iPhone 6 plus was quite impressive with it's thin large screen profile. The only problem was it was made out of of soft aluminium and was as rigid as play dough.

I'm the same guy, same for me. Only iOS not a fan and those 13 lightning. Some apps also doesn't deal well, like menu option out of screen ( apple strict design lead to paradox...) Bit i still love it. Shouldn't say but got extreme...

Thinner but with very big screen , probably smaller battery, very powerful but hungry proc at full power and expensive with a big pill island. I don't understand it's usefulness for now. Bragging, maybe ? Apart some new alien tech battery,...
