HTC launches U Ultra and U Play in India

HTC has launched its flagship U series in India. The top of the line U Ultra is priced at INR 59,990 ($896) while the U Play is priced at INR 39,990 ($597).

The HTC U Ultra is the latest and greatest in HTC's lineup. It has a contoured glass body, which HTC calls liquid surface, a secondary display above the main 5.7-inch QHD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, 12 megapixel UltraPixel 2 rear camera, 16 megapixel UltraPixel front camera, four microphones for 360-degree audio capture, and a 3000mAh battery.

The HTC U Play has a has a compact, 5.2-inch display with 1080p resolution, MediaTek P10 Helio processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, 16 megapixel rear camera, 16 megapixel front camera, and 2500mAh battery.

Both phones come with HTC U Sonic that uses a pair of USB-C headphones that analyze the shape of your inner ear and adjusts the sound accordingly. There's also HTC Sense Companion, which provides suggestions based on your location, time of the day, and weather. A voice-recognition system is also built-in, which works from any screen and can be used to perform basic functions such as unlocking the phone, take or reject calls, snooze or dismiss alarms, send messages, or start navigation, and it only works with your voice. Both phones launched in India also come in the dual-SIM variant only.

HTC U Ultra and U Play also come with one year insurance in India that includes any liquid or physical damage to the phone. Standard Chartered credit and debit card holders will also get a 7.5% cashback. The phones will go on sale starting March 6, 2017. The cashback offers are valid till May 31, 2017.
