So now that u said that i can have a back up of the contacts and messages on the ... moreYou can upload messages back to the phone memory and it will be saved in the drafts folder... so that means you can upload only the messages you want while the others can be saved in the pc or exported as a CSV file.

physiovinayak, 30 Dec 2009Photocall is there na in this fone? I mean if i a save a pic of a contact say "X" will his pic... moreYes mate.... the dispaly pic is pretty big too... filling almost half the display. You can even set custom pics for each caller groups. contacts support multiple phone number entries (4 in all) a memo and an aniversary so the contacts are pretty much integrated with the PIM.

physiovinayak, 30 Dec 2009dude no power here and my lappy is almost drained out. One last query. Can we assign pictures ... moreYes definitely... you can assign photos to contacts. Any photo of any size can be set and the phone automatically resizes to fit the screen. There is even an option that while you are scrolling down the contacts list, if view photos is enabled, the name along with the photo is displayed side by side kinda like that of the contacts found in higher spec models.

Anonymous, 30 Dec 2009Sorry mate... you cannot save messages onto the memory card directly. it is only something whi... moreMessages in GM200 are saved in the phone memory. there is no way you can change that option to memory card. But the thing I don't understand is that when I check my memory status, the text message size is shown as a few KB's but even if the phone memory is completely free, the text message still has a limit. So I suspect that it is kept that way due to restrictions imposed by the firmware.
GM200 comes with a data cable and pc sync software. So you can easily connect it to your PC and back up all your messages and contacts and even export it as a CSV file which can be opened using MS excel. you also have the option of uploading the archieved messages back onto the phone if you wish to do so. So storage might not be a big issue if you have a PC.

The problem with samsung phones is that they tend to fit the biggest dispaly with the brightest colours onto a phone and provide with tiny batteries. So most of the power end up running the power hungry displays. I know many samsung handsets that barely last a day.
Regarding W810i, for 1.5-2K I think it's a great buy depending on the condition of the phone. Just try and make sure that the display colours have not eroded and the backlight is still bright enough.

physiovinayak, 30 Dec 2009Is the proble with fm sorted out? I got to know that one cant minimise the radio while listeni... moreYes the FM and mp3 problems have been sorted out in the previous update.
Well for an average SMSer like me, it does a great job though it can be a little sliggish at times but the message options are very user friendly and there are a lot of different ways by which you can send messages. I've seen a heck of a lot of improvements from previous LG models. It is even easier adding new words to the T9 dictionary.
Once you get used to the new menus and all, it is as simple as any nokia phones in terms of user friendliness...

Is the proble with fm sorted out? I got to know that one cant minimise the radio while listening.

Also one more thing has the prob with the mp3 player sorted out? They say that the phone does not remember the last song played by it after the call ends?

How is the fone for an average sms'er like me?

IF you can get it for 1.5-2k then its a good deal depending on its condition. But still its a 3yr old model. In terms of audio quality gm200 is definitely better than w810i.

=========================

Thx mate :)

Is there a photocall option in GM 200?

One last word to LG...

If u guys can upgrade the resolution and screen size also plus add a xenon flash like the one on w 810i which can be used a torch. Boy oh Boy. GM will rock. I wont mind paying double its face value for now.

Cheers

regards :)

Sorry mate... you cannot save messages onto the memory card directly. it is only something which smartphones alone can do. But you can backup your whole inbox into a small text file which can also be read right on the phone itself. Other wise backing up can be done via pc sync software.

====================================

Can u elaborate regarding this PC sync?

And ya u were right reg the 800mah Battery of corby mate. So what would u say will be the best price that i can quote for a 1 yr ol w810i? is it worth buying it for 1.5 to 2k at the max?

Once again ur awesome.

Cheers :)

physiovinayak, 30 Dec 2009@ Nevin- Thanks a ton mate for ur timely reply. I have decided that i am gonna buy GM200 fo... moreSorry mate for the mixup with Corby as U know there are a lot of corby out there... The specs look kinda nice but with an 800MAh battery, don't think it would last morethan a day.

Regarding the USb headset, i'm not quite sure about it as I have no hands on experience. But I suspect that the 3.5mm jack will still have the best power output.
themes are not supported in this mobile. You are kinda stuck with the only 2 available.

W810i is a superb phone. It was one of my fantasies too. Just last week I got a chance to compare the audio quality of my phone with my friend's W810i. I was shocked and happy at the same time to see that my GM200 emerged as the clear winner. the music quality was that much good and the frequency response so good and second only to Nokia 5130. To compared W810i and emerge as the winner, you can just imagine the audio quality of this phone by now. Because I know that W810i is by no means a cheap walkman phone.
With W810i, you get more applications and a better autofocus camera. So the debate is purely subjective.

@ Nevin again :)

Dude-

Only diff between KM335 and GM 200 is the former has a 3.15 mp cam with flash and wireless am and fm. Really not much a diff.

Another query..

Dude u said that we can store messages in memory card so by that logic virtually one can save as many messages on the fone is'nt it :o

@ Nevin-

Thanks a ton mate for ur timely reply. I have decided that i am gonna buy GM200 for sure, coz i went through KM335 forum and ppl there were really not that happy with the fone as compared to GM200. KM335 ppl were very pissed off with its UI. Reg GS 200 i am bit skeptical regarding its cam and moreover i don wanna deviate. It does not have EDGE as well.

I am getting this cell for Rs 5125 including 1 yr warranty mate alongwith intex speakers, forgot to tell u that.

The vendor was so very sure that he said we can use both the headsets simultaneously. Now i jus wanna know ki, if i get a usb pin with a 3.5 mm jack will the sound effect be same as that with the other already provided 3.5 mm jack provided with the fone? And how will i sound if i integrate both the headsets with the "in ear"(buds) kinda headsets?

U got me wrong regarding Corby mate bro.. U compared with corby... Here is the link to the fone i was talking about-
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_b3310-2907.php

One more thing, would u put some light on the themes aspect of the fone? Can themes be got compatible for the fone or can we create some themes in it?

I am one more dilemma. One of ma frens called me today and said that he is selling off his SE W810i. what shall i do? Its one of ma dream fones. Walkman Rocx man!

Finally it would be wonders if LG puts up a flash on GM200 which can even be used as a torch.GM will rock for time immemorial.

Regards!
