Qualcomm Windows

During Investor Day, Qualcomm teased an upcoming Snapdragon X chipset aimed at affordable Windows-powered devices priced around $600. The name isn't final, but we suspect it will just be Snapdragon X.

More affordable Snapdragon X chipset coming to Windows devices

Right now, the company is offering the Snapdragon X Elite with 12-core CPU configurations and the Snapdragon X Plus with 8- or 10-core CPUs. Thus, the vanilla Snapdragon X will likely adopt a 6-core CPU, although Qualcomm has yet to confirm this.

The company teased that its powerful NPU chip, used in the rest of the Snapdragon X SoCs, will also be employed in the cheaper Snapdragon X. This, in turn, means the Copilot+ will be available even on cheaper Windows laptops. Other competitors are not offering this at the moment. They usually reserve their powerful NPUs for the higher-end chips, so this will likely give the company an edge over its rivals.

Market availability is unknown and Qualcomm hasn't scheduled an announcement date just yet, but we could see it during next year's CES.

I'd wait for the second gen chip and wouldn't go lower than 10 cores.
