I think that the V3 is quite stylish. It's thin and very light. It also takes clear pictures for a phone.
This is quite simple. If you just want to make and receive calls on a stylish phone, the V3 is perfect.
If you need to store lots of numbers and recall them easily, or use bluetooth or take pictures and send them easily (the V3 makes you jump through hoops to do this) or if you want a strong phone that will stand up to day to day or business use... buy something else.
I too know of somebody who broke the V3 screen by dropping it ON CARPET! But then look how thin the flip is. Style or functionality. Simple choice. You decide.
My screen broke within a week. Gonna cost me nearly £100 to fix. Very fragile.
We are not all stupid.
You can't try all the features in a phone before you buy. I got un upgrade and it was sent by post. It wasnt till I used it I realised had bad this phone is. Sometimes you have to own something before you discoved its faults.
Well put James! You are 100% right! It is just like having a fantastic looking - but very boring girlfriend!
You noticed Eli started off with "she is so beautiful" and that is what impresses people about the V3. They then forgive how badly behaved it is because it looks great. People also don't like to admit they were fooled by the looks or that they have bough a turkey!
It is without doubt the best looking phone on the market, but I tried one for a week and found it awkward and unnecessarily complicated and very boring. Trying to pair with a Bluetooth device requires reading the manual!
Also, what is the point of having the capacity to store 1000 numbers and only letting you search by the first letter?
I now have a Samsung D500.. I don't particularly like it to look at, but as a phone, it leaves the V3 standing and is so logical and easy to use.
I agree.. The V3 is a fashion statement, not a phone.
What other features Eli? You say all the other features make up for it? I agree with most of the others on here. You are being taken in by the V3's looks. If it was an ugly phones, you would find the faults!
The V3 is like having a beautiful girlfriend on your arm. She is awkward, slow, she doesn't cook and even sex isn't great, but WOW - other people are impressed I have her on my arm.. that is of course till they find out her beauty is inly skin deep.
As an accessory, the V3 is perfect, as a phone - it sucks!
Oh my god this phone is so beautiful. Yea so it only has 5mb memory and cant record video but all the other features make up for it. Besides the technology always upgrades so you just gotta be satisfied with what you have and im SO satisfied. Until another upgraded phone that I actually like comes out, ill stick to this phone
Ive realised that the guys here are very hard to please after reading the opinions on both the V3 and the sony ericsson s700i. After some time with both these mobiles I find them both easy to use as well as fully functional and handy to have. The screen on the V3 has never broke on me and I have to say I find both these phones excellent!
With reference to the comments earlier that "you should stick to Nokia if you don't know how to use technology" It is not a question of not knowing how to use the V3, it is the fact that the V3 doesn't do what you want it to do. The phone book in particular is very poorly designed. Only being able to search by the first letter of a name is rediculous, particularly when like me you have 200+ names stored. Also the voice-recognition is useless and constantly does not recognise names or dials the wrong number. Before you think that might be my fault, I previously used a Nokia 6260 and had virtualy no problems with that. The front screen is prone to breakage (mine has broken and the phone has not been dropped - Carphone warehouse also told me breakage is common on the V3)and costs £75 to repair... Motorola customer services are not interested... They do not admit to the design being fragile... They sent the phonme back un-repaired and told me to take it to the Carphone Warehouse and pay to get it fixed.. Incidently, the phone does not have a mark on it and is visually in "as new" condition, so how did the screen break?.. Beats me!
There is no doubt this phone is designed to look great, and it does. If you Love this phone then you don't have any friends )as you obviously don't need to recall many numbers!) or you just want to dial out and receive calls on a flashy looking phone. This is a good LOOKING phone NOT a GOOD phone. My rating? 2/10
does anyone know if you can sync the v3 to a pc, say if you type something on the pc, it will come up on the computer
This phone has got the look only......nothing else.
I talk a lot with my mobile phone. I found that after holding my V3 and talk for more than 10-15 minutes, my fingers and my fore arm start to get tired......this is problem with thin and wide phone! ( I have regular size hand ).
Another problem is the ear piece speaker volume too quite in more noisy enviroment!
I also notice the V3 gives me headache after talking with it for a longer period! ( Dangerous to the human brain and body parts!!!!!!!!!!! )
Wish I have the dosh to trde in for a better phone......
did anyone see the blzr black version ? it is awesome. it was only being given out to the celebrities at the oscar awards but now it is being given to the public. i know where to get it for a decent amount of anyone is looking for it.
I work for Cingular and I have to say, out of all the phones we currently have, the V3 is the best! Although I just won the new ericsson S710a in a contest...I haven't got the chance to play around w/ it much, but it has a 1.3 megapixel camera and overall is very cool, it may top the V3!
any idiot can work a Nokia ..that is so true.. but a smart wan will not get this fone ..this is wat the users feedbacks =P
Plug it into your computer. This baby charges through the mini USB cable.
UStonics (ripoffs!) sold me a used phone with a crack screen. I wanted a new V3 and they pretty much they blame me for a damaged item they shipped. They also charged 40% restocking fee after all the arguing. Pretty much they work out of a garage and steal people's money by selling used, refurbished phones as new. Going to complain to BBB and get my money back. I got this phone again from another company called welectronics.com and wonderful. I just have a problem with some of the features but overall a nice phone, but not worth so much money.
look... i still don;t know how to make a video with this phone...where is the option??
I am Spanish, living in Madrid, and I've just bought this phone as an upgrade to my other Motorola. I like it very much, V3 really is a very classy phone.
Nevertheless I have seen that messages inbox is displayed by name but the outbox is displayed by message. Can anyone tell me how to have it displayed by name?
I bought this phone on an emotional impulse because of it's sleek stylish design.
What a mistake.
Number one:to answer this phone with one hand requires hands of King Kong.
Two:It is virtually imposible to read the screen if opened on a clear sunny day forcing you to retreat indoors to find cover of darkness.
Three: When locating a phone number only the first letter only has search capacity i.e. do not make friends with people called
Cyril or Dylan.
Three if you keep it in your pocket on a hot day it forms for it's own condensation leading to "liquid damage" not covered by warranty.
O' yes Motorola caps it all by changing the charger pin to a slieve type configuration ensuring another annoyin glitch to test your patience.
In short it has designed a phenominally good looking phone that appeals to hip looking dudes who never have to use a phone as a working tool.I will fix and sell as soon as returned and buy a decent model from anyone but Motorola.
Why does Motorola make it so difficult to use the speaker phone when there is a incoming call? First i have to pick it up by flip open the phone, then if i want to use the speaker phone, I then have to select the "speaker" option. Isn't there is a easy way to use it. Such as, view a caller ID through the external LCD and press of the the button to talk. Anyone have any idea why Moto make us go through many steps in order to use the speaker phone.
