Xiaomi Android Rumors

Patent filings are an interesting gateway to see what smartphone manufacturers are experimenting with behind closed doors. The latest one we’ve come across is from Xiaomi and was recently authorized by CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration), giving us a new take on the pop-up camera design. The design in question places both the front and back-facing cameras on the same pop-up mechanism.

The patent reveals three distinct varieties of the design starting with two dual-camera setups on the front and back and going all the way to a dual setup on the front and a five sensor array on the back. The actual pop-up mechanism is quite wide and occupies most of the space above the screen. Granted, patents don’t always make it to the production phase but it would definitely be interesting to see how Xioami can cram that many sensors in such a narrow enclosure.

The design has nothing to do with them not selling phones. It has many factors that include pricing, marketing, internal issues, etc. Design isn't one of them
