Sony would be violating and contradicting Android's 2-year OS lifespan upgrade path - especially for people who got the 2016 XA Ultra. .... If they don't, am switching to SamSung, at least they have a proven track of not neglecting consumers - a good example would be the latest news on the S5 neo getting Nougat update - since this model is well over 3 years old....

Doesn't matter if the hardware is capable, its about getting people to buy the newer handsets rather than older flagships. The Samsung S6 probably can easily run Oreo but it is a 2 year old device, most manufacturers will carry out version upgrades for atleast 2 years, that is its software lifecycle.

pikapoo, 31 Aug 2017mmm.. i think the problem is not caused by the lens. probably it is caused by the image proc... moreit is actually, the Z5, the X,XZ and XZs has it too,(include the G6 as well as) you can notice it, if not you can somply find it by capturing a straight line or a grid in microsoft excel, the easy fix is use lightroom (both pc and android app) and hit that lens correction button, and voila.

probably it is caused by the image processing software. Good software implements distortion correction algorithm. Maybe sony dont implement it.
Sony have the best camera hardwares, no one can beat sony. But they always lose in terms of image processing software.

all of them have it.

the problem here is: xzp has a lot more distortions because is uses cheap lens.
if that distirton is not a big problem, then why do they fix it in the next xz1 flagship? sadly they let xzp users suffered by this problem. they wont fix xzp distortion.

A lot of negative complain for Sony. Whereas these people didn't use a Sony phone before and just acting that they have one. Enjoy your Samsung/Iphone/Chinese brand phone. For all we care they're pretty much the same design with different logo/name on it. And yet these people complaining that Sony hasn't change their design. Smh.

Where most of the brands are offering only one Android update for mid-range devices. Sony is giving two update. That's great. Other brands also should follow this.
