Gibby , 11 Sep 2017I feel the same way - sadly. Maybe we were all expecting too much. Xiaomi don't have the exp... moreThey did last year (mix 1). That is what / most are complaining about. They could simply rerelease mix 1 and it would still be a better phone... all they managed with mix 2 is/was to find a reason to drop support for mix 1...
AnonD-234961, 12 Sep 2017Sorry, but this comment is lame. The Mi Mix is about pushing the boundaries of design, and it ... moreWell it didn't, it is actually more bezeled than the original, in absokute numbers too (upper bezel is bigger for example)... Nobody told them that they should decrease the internal volume of the phone.
Eli, 11 Sep 2017OMG, what world do you live in?In a world where 2:1 is a useless aspect ratio. In a world where infinite autonomy (swapping batteries) basically makes a phone 1000 times more useful (never having to worry again about charging). In a world where SD821 is basically the same as SD820. In a world where extra ram makes an android phone faster due to being able to cache more, and no extra ram means the phone is not (in practice). You know ... *our* world.
I haven't seen a successor being so much worse than its predecessor. Noone beats a G6 at being a lletdown, not Note 8 , not even Mi Mix 2...

OMG, why only 5.99" ? They are actually shrinking it :(
I hope they will come with a Max version with a ~6.5" in the future.

Pushing the boundaries of what exactly? How small they can make the battery and the device as a whole?
Mi Mix 3 will have:
- 2400 mAh battery, another 1000 mAh less (or perhaps just 2000 mAh, for a nice round number)
- further shrunken down to 5.5", but at the increased 22:9 ratio, it will be more narrow than a regular 5" (65mm tops)
- again no headphone hack
- still the same nostril selfie cam
- still no sd card slot
- still no amoled
Price will rise even more to $999 for that.
No SD card, No headphone jack, seriously? Unless it's priced really really low I doubt xiaomi will sell too many phones.
Anonymous, 12 Sep 2017The Design is brilliant and looks better than Samsung or LG. The first mi mix was a little to big.The top and bottom bezel looks uneven which makes it not better than note 8 or v30.
A Note 4 user, 12 Sep 2017I'm shocked by how MISLEADING were xiaomi renders. they were promising no bezels... while in... moreProbably they had taken in account only about the bottom bezel in their publicity because the upper and side bezels seems to be bigger even taking into account the reduction in the size of the phone.
the original had a few weak points, such as a camera that wasn´t up to the level of the innovative, great design, and had lots of room for improvement. It also did not allow the use of micro SD cards. The camera was improved, but still no card, and other features were actually downgraded, such as the battery (1000 mAh less!), the screen size, and, to make it worse, the phone jack has been removed. I think this is a serious disappointment
I'm shocked by how MISLEADING were xiaomi renders.
they were promising no bezels...
while in the real life the device has BIGGER bezels than even Mi mix...
Obi Wan Kenobi, 12 Sep 2017One of the most impressive phones of all time (the original Mi Mix) gets one of the most under... moreSorry, but this comment is lame. The Mi Mix is about pushing the boundaries of design, and it really succeeds. They are like 5 millimeters from achieving a completely bezel-less design. The smaller the phone size, the harder it is to maintain this almost borderless design. The 6.4" size was much easier to implement than the smaller 6" size. Of course the battery will be smaller, the interior volume of the new device is much smaller. And this phone is not about the camera or RAM size. It's all about pushing the boundaries (literally).
One of the most impressive phones of all time (the original Mi Mix) gets one of the most underwhelming successors (the Mi Mix 2).
Screen to body-ratio has actually gone down.
No selfie camera upgrade.
NO 3.5 MM HEADPHONE JACK!!!
No heavily-rumoured AMOLED screen.
Screen size is decreased from 6.4"to 5.99" and since the aspect ratio has gone from 17:9 to 18:9, it mEans an even more less of screen area.
A WHOPPING 1000 MAH DOWNGRADE ON THE BATTERY.
No resolution upgrade (although 1080p is still pretty good).
And this is the hot phone and hot premiere. Unfortunately will be dominated by today's Apple conference.

The only t... moreWell I think there are more changes under the hood - for eg im sure that they are using a much more advanced / energy sparing display, plus there must be modem / RAM management changes too.
