Apple may do another price hike as it reportedly accepts Samsung's higher memory prices for next year

Apple iOS Samsung Mobile hardware Rumors

The new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max launch tomorrow with price tags $100 higher than what their 2025 predecessors cost. Even older models from the iPhone 17 and 16 series weren’t spared the $100 price hike. Unfortunately, this isn’t the end of it and new reports claim that Apple will raise prices again next year.

A couple of days ago, Korean publications reported that Samsung is renegotiating DRAM and NAND prices with smartphone manufacturers, including Apple. It seems that Samsung and Apple have now reached an agreement on the new prices.

Apple may do another price hike as it reportedly accepts Samsung's higher memory prices for next year

Apple will reportedly pay close to $2.00 per gigabit of LPDDR5X RAM and $0.33 per gigabit of NAND storage starting in Q1 2027. For comparison, Samsung’s prices in Q3 2026 were $1.50 and $0.26, respectively.

Apple wasn’t the only smartphone maker that Samsung asked back to the negotiating table. Interestingly, however, Oppo and vivo reportedly refused to accept the higher prices that Samsung was asking. We may have to wait for teardowns of their next flagships to find out which supplier they went with instead.

LLM is an algorithm in its base. There is no "when it's getting more efficient". It's a coding model that'll always need more processing power. When it fails, it'll be because too many has built absolutely pointless and ...

Both, in fact any brand with a substantial market presence. A high volume of so-called "premium materials" paired with a generic design makes a phone cheaper to make, unless they go for a USP or a notable change.
