The ongoing memory chip crisis has been plaguing tech companies for months and a new report from Korea’s Money Today suggests that Samsung is ready to significantly cut its smartphone production as a result. According to the report, Samsung Mobile Experience (MX) has already reached out to suppliers to reduce their production volumes by 20-30%.
This is specifically for the Q4 months (i.e October-December) and according to estimates, Samsung is now expected to cap off the year with around 200 million smartphone shipments instead of the previously estimated 270 million figure. The new report highlights the monumental 175% increase in 12GB LPDDR5X RAM pricing as a key factor that led to Samsung’s decision-making.
Samsung’s Q4 smartphone production has traditionally been lower than in other periods due to the imminent launch of its Galaxy S-series flagships in January – February.
Hmmm, if only Samsung had record-breaking AI & memory divisions to offset their losses....
Strange isnt it??? They earned 100 trillions in KRW yet they feel really poor. https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_q3_2026_earnings_guidance-news-74956.php
