OnePlus 16 arrives with SD 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, 200MP camera and 9,000 mAh battery

The OnePlus 16 is now official, and it's shaping up to be one of the most interesting phones exclusive to China. It brings all of the upgrades you’d expect, including the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip, a 200MP main cam and a healthy battery upgrade.

Starting from the top, the 16 is built around a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED with 1,272 x 2,772 px resolution and a 185Hz* refresh rate. Regarding the latter, the phone can run at 165Hz in everyday tasks while the extra 20Hz is “unlocked” in supported gaming titles.

The panel features BOE’s X4 luminescent material and is capable of going down to 1nit hardware brightness. It also features 1.15mm bezels, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and a 50MP selfie cam.

Outside of the impressive display, OnePlus opted for Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip – the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. You can configure the device with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, while the base version comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

In terms of cameras, you get a 200MP main camera armed with a 1/1.4-inch sensor alongside a 50MP 3x telephoto module and a 50MP ultrawide.

The software side is covered by ColorOS 17, while the other big upgrade is the battery capacity, which is now bumped up to 9,000 mAh with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.
