Is it true that you can’t have too many models? Maybe, maybe not, but here's one more – the Honor X8e 4G, a phone that is nearly identical to the Honor X7e Plus 4G from August.
The most eye-catching feature on this phone is the 108MP camera. The phone is an entry-level model that was spotted on the Honor Azerbaijan site. Local retailers sell it for AZN 820 – that’s $480, but for context, a Galaxy A08 4G is AZN 590. Plus, another retailer has the X8e at AZN 688. This is only 17% more than the A08 – and note that Honor prices are for a 6/256GB model, while the Galaxy price is for a 6/128GB model.
The Honor X8e 4G boasts a 108MP camera
Anyway, it’s unusual to see a high-resolution sensor on a phone in this price class. However, the choice of chipset limits video recording to just 1080p. The chipset in question is an all-time classic that belongs in a museum – the Snapdragon 685.
This 6nm chipset has Cortex-A73 and A53 CPU cores and an Adreno 610 GPU. It provides only 4G connectivity (dual nano-SIM). The phone also has Wi-Fi 5 (ac), Bluetooth 4.2 (LDAC, aptX HD and LHDC 5.0) and NFC. It launches with MagicOS 10 (based on Android 16) out of the box.
The Honor X8e 4G has a large 6.87” LCD with only 720 x 1,592px resolution. This appears to be the same LCD as on the X7e Plus – it runs at 120Hz, has a peak brightness of 1,020 nits and a 5MP selfie camera in a punch hole.
As we said in the opening paragraph, the X8e and X7e Plus are nearly identical. Nearly – the X8e has a 7,700mAh battery with support for 45W Honor SuperCharge. The X7e Plus has a slightly larger 8,100mAh battery. Both phones have the same thickness (8.3mm) and weight (218g), so this might be an artificial cap to comply with regulations as we see so often in Europe.

Like its sibling, the X8e is built tough. It is rated IP68 (dust tight, resistant against submersion in water), IP69 (resistance against high-pressure water jets) and IP69K (the same but with high-temperature water jets). It can last a full day in a high-humidity, salt-rich environment. It can survive extreme temperatures too, from -30°C to +50°C. The display can detect touch input in the rain and there is a dedicated underwater photo mode. The phone has a 5-star impact resistance rating from SGS with tests from 2.5m heights and is designed to keep running for at least 6 years.
Special thanks to TheRedGoober for the tip!
Somebody please remove/ban this person, he's just making rubbish and nonsense comments, he's everywhere spamming in the comment section especially about budget phones.
