i am planing to bye a nokia 6233 but after all of the problems i read i think i wont, is it worth it or not!!
I think this phone comparable with SE K610i/m=K618=V630 and not K800i if you look the price and the feature (for a new release phone).
They are non smartphone 3G,music capability and camera 2Mpx without flash nor autofocus. Only some different features like the phonebook capacity, infra red, double speaker and 2 camera.
if only it had a flash.. wat good is a 2mp camera without a glash.. sigh
how many text messages can be stored in the Inbox in the 6233? the 6270 has the same 40 series and it can store upto nearly a 1000 text messages....
Having read all reviews, i was overwhelmed and is willing to buy a Nokia 6233 but the remarkable difference between the demo set and the actual box pack one has led me to think once again.Secondly the ringer volume is so low that is is bareky audible Can u or anyone who has had the problem can guide me what to do? Could you suggest any other similar model which is of course not bulky?

Hey I purchased this phone last week. The phone is cool.. and with power packed features.
Though I am facing some issues while accessing the phone via a CA-53 USB cable from my PC.
1. The phone gets disconnected any time when in a middle of something. Reconnecting connects it back again.
2. Also I am not able to copy files directly on the memory card's predefined folders (inside the Extras folder on the memory card). When I select these folders of the memory card while accessing from PC Suite, the folders just disappear. I am able to paste in the root location of the memory card!
Can some one help me??
hi i just got the nokia 6233 last week and i went to recive something via bluetooth and the the phone switched off, now everytime i try to turn the phone on it comes up 'nokia' then the screen goes white and the phone turns off. If anyone has had this problem and got it fixed can you email me and tell me how the phone is now
Sorry to hear about your 6233 problems, but know this, all the phone has some kind of issues with the software, but it's just a matter of time that Nokia release the firmware update.
I just ordered a black Nokia 6233 and I'm sure I'll be dealing with the restart and freezing issues, as I once had with my actual 6230, but after a I update the firmware the restart problems are gone, except when I get into the IM Menu, but that's ok with me, because I don't even use it.
Just be patient, you know it's worth it.
Roger sorry to hear about your phone problems, hope it gets remedied and you will be happy once again.
After reading the reviews today I saw where an opinionist said that he has restart & freezing problems when he tries to bluetooth and shoot videos. He said it happens with the 6233 and 6280 which leads to wonder if the problem lies within the 3rd implementation of the series 40 operating system. Nokia 6230 uses series 40 version 2 and yes it does restart at times but that's normally due to files which have some form of initial problem - maybe a little defect in the file, bad encoding etc. but once the 6230 restarts by itself it never normally does restarts again for that day...in most cases. S40 V2.0 was an excellent OS and by the sounds of things with the 6233, S40v2 seems to be a whole lot stabler. Maybe Nokia needs to recall their S40 Ver.3 phones and do some thorough testing & fixing. I suspect the 6233 hardware is good, just the operating system which is messing things up.
P.S. I have read every post from page 1 to present
Yeah, I've seen it. I had a W800i and W810i - I simply cannot begin to appreciate a SE. For some reason I am stuck in Nokia mode, always a Nokia for me please.
HOWEVER, as you mentioned, Nokia is testing us. Bearing in mind I paid top dollar for a gsm free phone, this is just undoubtedly absurd. A phone should work out of the box, irrelevant of what "firmware" it has in it. How can they put a phone out on the market and get us to "try and test" their gadget for them? Funny thing is, what can we do once we've spent the dosh on their product?
Irritating isn't the word. Unfortunately GSMArena blocks rude words - I've so many I wanna use right now...
Anyway, thanks for the suggestion, I'll be looking at all fones and will be letting you know when my 6233 returns.
Roger...Just curious, have you looked at the SE K800 at all?
I have that and the 6233, as I am first and foremost a Nokia person, but the 6233 tried my patience so I went and bought a K800.
Just curious, what did Nokia say they'll do, as there isn't a new software yet, the service centre told me 3.70 is still the newest.
I think Nokia are playing on the loyalty of folks like us, I have never had a new Nokia be as problematic, from 6310, 6310i, 6230, 6230i.....Bearing in mind this is a S40 phone, which is tried and tested, this one shouldn't be as problematic.
Let us know how your repair goes....
Ah, sorry guys, please accept my apologies for the typos here - so many errors! I've gotta improve that typing!
After pondering wether to ditch it or fix it, i've decided to give it another go.
My 6233 is playing up quite a lot. I mean, guys, what good is a phone if you are stuck when you need to make a call? I love the "extras" - MP3, radio, camera, bla bla. But a phone is a phone. Nothing more.
Mine has been dropping calls, and also finding it hard to relocate the network. Sometimes I get a text from Orange saying I've missed a call, although my phone is showing 2 bars! This is not good. The second problem, probably the worst yet, is the volume during a conversation. I've said before that it was ok; but when it comes down to it - it is not good! I had my phone next to an old samsung and the Samsung is sooo much louder you have to decrease the volume to 7 or 8 not to get that sharp voice in your earhole.
Therefore, I know i was being optimistic here for a long time, but I'm gonna wait and see how my 6233 comes back (in 2 week's time). If it is any better, it'll survive the chop. If not, goodbye Nokia.
As you can see I was making comments / suggestions as I am an owner of a 6233 phone. However mine has been sent to repair today, please see above. I will come back and let you all know how it fared and how it
I suspect Nokia will re-run the firmware and hope the phone gets better. I hope they put a little more effort in it.
The 6233 is a brilliant phone, everyone who wons one will say that. But a phone has to work, as simple as that!
hi richard. does ur fne give problems whn blutoothin files, videoing, and sumtimes the fne may freeze and restart. i had the nokia 6280 and it has gave me the sme problem. do nokia test there fnes properly b4 shipping. i wonder hw they dnt cum across these problems and ship there products off.
hii i gt a problem with this fne. whn i record a video it displays hw long i gt left for recording on the top but the recordin stops with time still remainin sayin "unable to save file" does any1 else experience these problems. and i tried blutoothin a file 2 a m8 and his fne is a samsumg and whn the file was sent it didnt work. whn i was searching for blutooth devices his fne didnt show. whn i restarted both fnes his device appeared. does any1 experience these problems. shud i tke it bak to the shop and upgrade the firmware. mines is v.70
The Sony Ericsson K800i, that can do the amount of SMS you require. Also, with all the bugs in the 6233, I am pleased I can upgrade the software on the SE online from the phone itself. Not that I have found it is necessary, as it is very stable.
I love my Nokia's, but they have really let us down with this model :(
