I am planning on buying the N80. I wanted to see what peope have paid for this phone in the US and from where. Any links would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have seen the silver one in person, and wanted to see if people prefered the black one or silver.
yes u can connect ur n80 to the net with wi-fi, if u have unlimited broadband then naturaly it wnt cost u anymore than u pay now, altho it wnt connect tru aol it just connects directly to ur wireless router!
Just a question i have ordered my n80 which will be arriving tomorrow. i have wirless internet in my house and use it to log on with my wi-fi enabled laptop to aol. however i do a lot of mobile surfing with my currant handset and was wondering how the costing works and is it full internet access and would i still log on through some sort of aol software using my password or do i use a different provider. incase it makes a diffeence im with vodafone contract
if you wait for australian official released, might take another 3 to 4 months
Hey James and JaseBris,
I am here in Melbourne, Australia. Have been asking around some of the phone dealers, apparently the "imported" version are available now (from HK). Some of the stores offer local warranty (not from Nokia). Surprisingly different stores sold them for different price, range from $820 - $1099! Seems ridiculous to me.
Anyway, if you guys want it quick, some of the local stores have their site on eBay.
I am still thinking whether I should get an imported or wait until it is officially release.
Anyone know if Australia version of N80 will support Chinese input?
Does anyone or has anyone tried to install SeleQ and got it working on the N80?
Thanks all of you,
my N80 has V3.0614.0.3 and 11.04.2006dated version.. is this a new version or is there a newer version? if there do you know how and where can I get it? thanks in advabce..
To N80 Owner:
Press *#0000# and it will show you the firmware version.
do anyone know how to get software version from the phone? I want to know that my N80 has newer version or not? Please help....
Hey 'James' and 'saveyourwork'..
Another aussie here waiting impatiently for the release, my local optus dealer said definetely by the end of this month, so shouldnt be too long, just if you guys or any other aussies in here hear of any local store releases, let us all know here asap :)
Cheers n fingers crossed its within 2 weeks
hello everibody, i have a cuestion, nokia n80 takes videos in cif resolution, but 6280 and 6233, etc, non smart phones can shoot vga videos(all in 15 frames i konw) it is posible, in future FW actualitations that the n80 takes in vga too...?
also laptops only have a 3.5 hr life generally..i use my n80...2hrs mp3 playig...20-30 mins of calls.. 20txts...30 mins general gaming and hav 2 bars left after 14 hr day so its ok for me .I always do a test as said below in other post and got these results.....back to back mp3 playing with headfone on 80% volume 9.5hrs.....video full screen looped round and round 3hrs 40 mins..
wi-fi isnt a waist of time, its this years "must have" feature, its great to have it coz now i dnt have to pay those silly network data rates, i used to get £300+ bills because of gprs data, now its just my standard line rental! as for battary usage, frm a full charge with wi-fi constantly in use with the browser the n80 lasts around 3 - 4 hours, its not great but it isnt bad, in another forum sum1 timed how long it lasted with gprs, it only lasted around an hour longer! so if uv got broadband at home its well worth it, i'll never have a fone without wifi in the future!
To N80 users or Owners:
Many people have been saying that using WLAN (WiFi) the N80 is a waste of Time and BATTERY power. Given a solid connected access point, is the wlan on the N80 really burdensome? How about battery consumption via wlan?
This feature is really the deal breaker for me to choose between getting the N80 and the N73 which is fully loaded but lacks wifi. But then again it adds to a longer battery life.
What are your thoughts and suggestions floks?
the camera quality is great and it can accept all Series 60 applications.
But its rather big and heavy....and its also a bit slow.
But my overall impression is that this phone is great and worth the money...and its getting cheaper day after day.
The memory card included is 128MB but I could find micro-SD cards in the market.
Really great phone
to the guy with the laptop, goto www.opera.com and download opera browser for ur pc/laptop, this browser alows u to view html/wml pages! to the guy who cant conect via wLAN, goto settings/conection settings/access points and make a new access point, select Wireless LAN then select search, it shud then find ur router and conect, if u use any security/encryption on ur router make sure u put corect settings into the access point u make in the n80!
the camera shuter sound shud turn off if u deactivate the keypad tones, mine r off and i have NO shuter sound on cam altho the video start/stop sound is still there!
