I Find the N85 to be a good phone however I was disapointed in not get the durability that nokia is known for. After a few weeks my new phone screen was all scrathed an the screen evently crack ( after a very light fall). I usually sware by Nokia durability but this phone fell far short in that area. Otherwise pretty cool phone

Subrata, 31 Dec 2008Niki.. can u explain... which type of display is best... TFT/OLED?.... I am confusing....OLED is better,
brighter and more brilliant picture
170 viewing angle
low power consumption
fast "response time"

but the display isn't clear in outdoors with direct sunlight
an can easily be damaged

still the oled is better

hi.. prior to using this phone I was using E71 which was fantastic & great experience.. but once I started to use N85 I couldnt go back to E71.. though E71 has a full qwerty function, I felt N85 was just too good to keep my hands away.. display is damn good.. camera is good.. i had minor problems with the video recording.. but otherwise I m perfectly happy with this phone.. Gaming is totally great experience wiht this phone... i would recommend N85..a good replacement for N81 but yet packing most of the features of N95.. if N95 is the King, this should be the prince..

Guys, under ANY circumstance, this phone just ROCKS!!! The Display is simply AMAZING, and so are the GAMES - that is if you're able to pay for them via the n-gage application for the FULL VERSIONS.

The Video quality is pretty smooth...and even the TV Playback option is super..

Just ONE piece of advice: If you're gonna be loading any downloadable themes, do so at your own risk...as it will cause the s/w to hang n then maybe you'll have to do a reflash

I would give this phone 9 delicious imagery points out of a possible 10!

Have a Happy New Year Y'all!

SiFu Lee, 01 Jan 2009I was not hard on my N85. I've use many slider phones so please just accept my testimony of t... moreso there u go, u basically need a gaming phone. regarding the buttons on N85, its a matter of personal choice , the buttons on N95 are from old school- distinct and simple. this may help u in gaming. but i think iphone is superb in gaming due to its motion sensor which makes gaming really enjoyable.

I also experienced the same problem that the N85 will hang sometimes, either it hang when sliding down for the music player and had a few time , the handset could not detect the sim card and request for sim card insertion.

anyway, the multimedia features is quite cool, but the thing i dislike is there is no a shortcut key to off the application, like music player.

when wanna close the application need to go search the option then only can exit. a bit tedious, as previous handset was a k800 with a shortcut key to off the application. it will be more convenience if have the shortcut key.

I was not hard on my N85. I've use many slider phones so please just accept my testimony of the N85. It was a great phone besides the problems I pointed out. I recieved my N95-4 from Amazon and here are some pro's and con's I noticed between the two.

Pictures and Video recording:
They have about the same quality but the N95 has smoother recording then the N85. Pictures are about the same to my eyes. Overall I would say the N85 is the better choice for video recording because you can use the LED's for night recording. N95 can not.

Games:
N95 wins HANDS DOWN! Games run much smoother and the controls are MUCH MUCH better. The D-Pad on the N85 is too hard to press and you'll find yourself always hitting the middle button when you didn't want too. So for gaming get the N95.

Navigation:
Again the N95 is much better. The softkeys and D-pad is much better and very easy to press. All the navigation keys on the N85 are hard to press. In a matter of 4 days this area of the phone begin to separate from the display.

Sound:
Then N95 has much much better speakers and sounds amazing. The N85 speakers are very poor and doesn't sound near as good. HOWEVER... listening with headphones/earbuds sound MUCH better on the N85 compared to the N95.

Screen:
N85 wins hands down!!! The screen is simply breathetaking. Blacks are very very black and whites are white. The screen has much better contrast and colors are much more rich. However theres alot of 'black crush' went watch movies with dark scenes. The N95 screen is bigger but I'd rather have the OLED anyday.

Performance:
The N85 wins in this category. Loading vidoes, music from PC to phone is ten times faster on the N85. The N95 takes longer to refresh your playlist for music and videos. Overall the N85 is a tad quicker. And the updated OS on the N85 is alot better IMO.

So there you have it. I wasn't bashing the N85 at all. I liked it alot but with that said, I'm keeping the N95 8gb because I'm a gamer and I just can't deal with the lousy d-pad and stiff buttons on the N85.

Thanks for reading.

N85 has better camera then N95 8gb. I can record video on dark because you can turn on flash when recording. On N95 8gb you can't! Better video quality is on N85. I am using N85 1 month. This is my 7 symbian phone (3650,6600,6630,N70,N73,N95 and now N85).Battery= 4 days with normal use. The only problem for me is navi weel. The screen is amazing. I was compared the screen with HTC Touch HD. Resolition an size are better on HTC but colors you can't compare! HTC Touch HD has TFT screen 800x480 with ONLY 65K colors. N85 has OLED screen 320x240 with 16 million colors!
