n97 slow, 14 Jan 2011my c memory is nw 6mb nd i thnk my phne s got virus so i wana knw hw do clean ur c memory pls1)If the messages are C, move it to E, take a back up of your contacts using ovi suite or copy it to your sim card.
2)Do a hard reset (Caps shift+space bar+Delete and press power on/off button – for more info, just google it). It will only format your C. You will NOT loose your data stored on E or memory card.
3)After hard reset, the default memory for messages will be C. So change it to E. Also if you do not have unlimited data plan and you have a wifi network available, change your access point.
4)Do not install or try to download quick office. Rather install office suite and pdf+ both can be installed on E and it is free.
5)Install all possible apps on E. In my case, only Nokia map, Handy taskman, Nokia E mail, OVI store and a font( I dont like the default nokia font) is installed on C and I got approx 32 MB free space in C.
n97 slow, 14 Jan 2011my c memory is nw 6mb nd i thnk my phne s got virus so i wana knw hw do clean ur c memory plsI reckon i am nearly a symbian expert after years of devivces,,hands on experiance and low grade programming and understanding.
You cannot without knowledge get a symbian virus/worm/trijan without your own input or permission..
Most mobile platforms are heavily fortified and only really mimic laptop or desktop couterparts.
When you allow something onto your symbian fone it asks for your p;ermission at many levels..If the code/app/or even website gets access to yopur fone its YOU who allows it OR it gets rejected.
Some times when a theme for example is suspect it comes up "NOT COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR DEVICE"then if you carry on it may say "This theme may cause your device to not work properly" so there is a host of flash screens to get thru to put a theme on thhats incompatible, never mind anything sinister..
The most a virus/worm whatever you wish to call it ("i call is malicious software or malware")is corrupt your device and make it unoperable ..A clean wipe of the device will have you up and running again.
Next is bluetooth sinister malware..Its highly unlikly that you wouild allow a bluetooth connection to take place and YOU accept it as well and cause a piece of malware onto your device..Its not poossible to spread via bluetooth cause its range is limited and you have to accept the infection and the onbaord checks have to let it thru..
Next is txt malware..Well it wont install on a symbian device and opening a text message has never been proven to execute right away ..so virus whatever you call it unlikly.
So unless you poison your own device on purpose you will be safe and as for spreading as in the true sense of viruses/worms and the likes its just not feasable.
The 99% cause of symbian corruption of the sinister type is bad software and for that to happen You have to pres accept and accept again and accept again to let it in ,,even tho the o/s is telling you its incompatuible or corrupt software..
How to clean c-dik/drive a bit later i have some more jobs to get done..
You can download free trial of f-secure antivirus for 15 day trial and run it thru to check.

More the space in C means more stable your phone. Ever since I started maintaining 30+Mb in C, half of my problems solved!!

It is much more convenient than the capacitive touchscreen when it comes to “precise clicking”. I too would rather stay with the resistive type, but I guess even when it comes to technology, we have to make some “sacrifices”! Btw, have you upgraded your phone to the free pdf reader, that was offered sometime now @ quickoffice? I’m really enjoying it. Nokia should have offered a free version from the beginning.
Cijo, 13 Jan 2011There may not be a v30 for N97. Source: Nokia Product Manager-Austriaare they going to give all a voucher off their next fone? Anyhow just cause they have sold a few million n8 it means nowt.. It should be 3 times that sales figure but folk are now wise to buying nokias now..The trust has gone ,even hardened noka fans are keeping away believe me.8 live in herts and at least 10 hradcore noka folk i know have given up plus all my mates on line have taken n8 back.
their is supposed to be another update soon but nothing for my n97 yet.It feels like Nokias servers are down?

How do I change the ring tone on my phone so that the tone rings longer before going almost straight to message bank
i have bought this fone today and i am having alot of problems....e.g..the wireless gets off automatically after every 2-3 mins and when i try to go to settings to switch it on again then the settings do not open....if any body have the solution then please reply...
Anonymous, 10 Jan 2011because in this phone the max sd is 16gbI am using a sandisk class 2 32gb micros-sd memory card instead of 32gb mass memory.Still tho i would reccomend the smallest card you csn get away with.
I also use a class 6 samsung memory card whe i go out videoing or taking shots.
WHAT should be happening really is if a person bought the n97 and thought the 32gb is more than enuf they should be able to..Whats really happening is the mass memory is so slow and RAM is in short supply and together its creating a bit amount of slowness..
The trouble is continually formatting memory cards will lead to card failure..The faster the card the faster it wears out with formatting many times. Therefore the n97 mass memory had to last the 24 month contracts so they opted for ruggedness over speed..
I still think nokia should give a refund of 20% of what you paid for n97 against a new nokia smartfone.
