Oppo Android

The competition

The Oppo Find N6 is shaping up to be one of the best foldables on the market at the moment; however, there is just one problem - you can't exactly go and get it. The phone is available in a limited number of markets - mostly Southeast Asia, and that's about it.

And even in markets where it's officially available, the price is anything but modest – in Singapore, for example, it goes for SGD 2,400 (around USD 1,870). Then again, large foldables have never really been known for being easy on the wallet, have they?

Oppo Find N6 review

Naturally, we cannot kick off the list of available competitors with anything other than the Galaxy Z Fold7. In this generation, Samsung's foldable is one of the best-looking and most widely available foldables, but it cannot match the Oppo in performance, camera, battery life, or even charging speed. It also doesn't support a stylus anymore. Still, it provides a balanced foldable experience, so maybe it's still worth looking into due to its lower retail price.

The recently announced Honor Magic V6 is the logical alternative to the Find N6, too, though this one is yet to see a proper market launch, too. It's an even tougher IP68/IP69-rated device with a slimmer and lighter body, yet with a larger battery inside. The Magic V6 has the same chip and a similar camera kit. It cannot quite offer the Find N6's crease-less experience, but it does impress with design, camera quality, and battery.

The vivo X Fold5 is another viable alternative to the Find N6, mainly because it's an older offer with a cheaper price tag. It uses the previous generation Elite chip and cannot match the battery life, the crease-less experience or the camera quality of the Find N6. But it's not that far, and if the price difference makes sense for you, we are sure you will not be disappointed.

Finally, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the one you get for the pure Android experience and iconic Pixel camera quality. Neither its performance nor its battery properties is a match for the Find's. And seeing how the two are priced about the same, this one may be worth looking into as well.

Our verdict

Well, if you've gone through the competition chapter above, one thing should have become clear - there is no other foldable that will offer you quite the same crease-less screen as the Oppo Find N6. This alone will immediately seal the deal for some.

But those who are still not convinced, the Find N6 is a classy foldable with a durable design and improved dust resistance. It offers superb OLED screens, best-in-class battery life, excellent performance and top-notch camera setup.

Oppo Find N6 review

Okay, the camera quality did not turn out as stellar as we would have hoped for, but it's still quite good. The dated selfie cameras can easily be forgiven because foldables like this one allow for easy use of the main camera for your mug shots.

The missing CPU core turned out to be not that big of a deal as the phone delivered not only excellent speed, but also some solid CPU sustained performance considering the form factor.

We particularly liked the multi-tasking of ColorOS on the big screen, the customization options, and the seamless transitions from cover to inner screen and vice versa. Using the Oppo AI Pen was also pleasant.

The Oppo Find N6 is easily one of the best foldable smartphones right now, combining design innovation, flagship performance, top-tier camera kit, and superb battery life. Oppo delivers on its promises across the board and delivers something no other can offer. We can easily recommend opting for the Find N6 if you are in the market for a tablet-like foldable - if you are lucky enough to have it available where you reside.

Pros

  • Excellent inner and cover OLEDs with all the perks.
  • Near crease-less foldable screen.
  • Improved IP5X rated dust resistance.
  • Class-leading battery life, very fast charging.
  • Versatile camera, very good photos and videos from all cameras.
  • Excellent ColorOS with great multi-tasking.
  • Oppo AI Pen works on both screens (but it is an extra purchase).

Cons

  • Limited regional availability.
  • 7-core CPU instead of an 8-core CPU.
  • Meh selfie camera quality.
  • Speaker sound quality could be better.
