Design and handling

The Oppo Reno12 Pro isn't a huge departure from the previous generation, and like a true Reno smartphone, it's light, compact and stylish. The series wants to appeal to a younger audience and pays special attention to the design.

The glass back feels slick and premium in hand. We have the Nebula Silver color with us, but there are also the Space Brown and Sunset Gold colorways.

The silver paint job has an interesting wavy pattern on the back, looking like silk and it feels like one too. The surface is super smooth, yet surprisingly grippy. It doesn't leave fingerprints and smudges either.

The front is particularly interesting as the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 sheet has curvatures on all sides, reminiscent of the old iPhone 8 days. It's quite nice to operate.

And for a 6.7-inch device, the Reno12 Pro sure is lightweight. Tipping the scale at just 180 grams and squeezing a 5,000 mAh battery into a 7.4mm-thick chassis.

Speaking of, this year, the body is IP65-certified against water and dust, which is a feature the Reno11 Pro didn't have. Also, the SIM card tray can take a microSD card slot - another omission on Reno 11 Pro.

Oppo Reno12 Pro

The fingerprint reader works well and it's reliable, but it's placed too close to the bottom edge of the screen, making it a bit awkward to reach with your thumb if you are holding the phone normally.

In any case, the Reno12 Pro is a stylish, well-crafted device with a standout design. Despite its screen size, it's a rather compact and lightweight handset.
