OmniVision also has a new high-end 200MP camera sensor for upcoming camera flagships, to rival the freshly announced Sony LYTIA 901.

According to a report in Korean media, the OmniVision OVB0D is a 200MP 1/1.1-inch imager, so slightly larger, than the 1/1.12-inch LYTIA 901. The sensor features a Bayer filter, but with a different dual on-chip re-mosaic structure to the LYTIA's more complex QQBC.

Technically, and we're hypothesizing a bit, due to the lack of proper information, Sony's sensor could have a slight edge in detail, because of its more advanced Quad-Quad Bayer Coding structure.

Report: OmniVision also brings out a high-end 200MP sensor, the OVB0D

The OmniVision OVB0D has a very high full-well capacity (400k) and dynamic range, and uses DCG + LOFIC Gen 2 technology for its multi-frame HDR processing. That helps it handle extreme HDR scenarios better. The LOFIC Gen 2 and 108dB of dynamic range promise good handling of mixed lighting within a scene.

According to noted tipster Iceuniverse, the OVB0D is headed to flagships from vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi, and Honor in 2026.

He says that Samsung is unlikely to adopt either of the new, larger 200MP sensors from Sony or OmniVision, due to "rising costs and declining profitability". Samsung will instead continue to use a smaller 200MP 1/1.3-inch sensor, similar to the ongoing HP2.

Yes, indeed, we go from 1/3.06" to 1/2.55", but the difference is small.

I noticed it when comparing the photo quality from Vivo's X300 and X300 Pro cameras. On the vanilla X300, the main camera isn't as sharp as the X300 Pro. On the X300 Pro, however, it's reversed for the telephoto camera.

Omnivision sensors are inferior to Samsung's, which are in-turn inferior to Sony's. Omnivision are synonymous with cheap & midrangers, for a reason, that reason being they're just not good. Couldn't care less about megapixel c...
