The original Angry Birds game, released in 2009 and later marketed as Rovio Classics: Angry Birds, will be unlisted from the Google Play Store on February 23, 2023, marking the end of an era of one of the most popular video games in the world.
This revelation comes from the game's developer Rovio Entertainment, who took to Twitter to share the news of the game's delisting from the Google Play Store. The developer also said that while the game will be removed from the Play Store on Thursday, it will be renamed "Red's First Flight" in Apple's App Store pending further review.
The game will remain playable on devices it has already been downloaded even after it has been unlisted from the Play Store. So if you are a Rovio Classics: Angry Birds fan, you might want to install the game and make sure it's in working condition before the date comes.
Rovio said the game's being delisted due to its impact on their games portfolio, including Angry Birds 2, Angry Birds Dream Blast, Angry Birds Friends, Angry Birds Journey, Angry Birds Reloaded, and Angry Birds Minecraft.
If you haven't tried Rovio Classics: Angry Birds yet, which is a paid game, you can download it from here on your Android device, and from here on your iPhone or iPad.
Yeah. Most games back then had ads and one time purchases. Now, you have cut the rope now having a $10/month VIP subscription. Now you have gacha stuff and now you have live service games like Apex Legends that get shut down and all the stuff you had...
And there are plenty of modded games too. No matter how many microtransactions will they put, people will always find a way to bypass it.
