Samsung Galaxy A35 runs Geekbench with Exynos 1380

Samsung Android Rumors

The Galaxy A55 is expected to run on the new Exynos 1480 – we saw as much in a Geekbench scorecard. Its sibling, the Galaxy A35, will instead use the previous chip, the Exynos 1380, and we have the Geekbench result to prove it.

The Samsung Galaxy A45 (SM-A356E) was equipped with 8GB of RAM and Android 14 (undoubtedly with One UI 6.x on top). The 1380 chip is fabbed at Samsung’s 5nm EUV foundries and has four Cortex-A78 cores (2.4GHz) and four A55 cores (2.0GHz), plus an ARM Mali-G68 GPU.

The Exynos 1380 was used only in a few phones – the Galaxy A54, F54 and M54 – and showed a marked improvement in multi-core performance over the Exynos 1280 and a minor uplift in single-core performance. No surprises here, the 1280 uses the same CPU cores at the same frequencies except in a 2+6 configuration instead of 4+4.

Both chips use the Mali-G68 GPU too, though again the 1380 was faster. And the GPU is exactly where the Galaxy A55 should win over its A35 sibling as the upcoming 1480 chip will feature an AMD Xclipse 530 GPU. Note that last year’s Galaxy A34 used a MediaTek chip, the Dimensity 1080 with the same A78/A55 CPU and Mali-G68 GPU.

Leaks have already provided a look at the Galaxy A35 (and A55) design, also seen in live images. There was even a repairability score that leaked, giving the A35 a fractionally better score than the A34.

There’s no word on when Samsung will unveil the Galaxy A35 and A55, but the A34 and A54 arrived in March, so the launch is probably a month away.

I think that depends on pricing and availability of the device compared to the X6 Pro, if the consumer just needs a daily carry device the A35 or A55 will suffice, meanwhile if plan to use the device for playing demanding mobile games then the X6 Pro...
