Samsung Android In for review Featured

If you had to use one word to describe the Samsung Galaxy M51 it's probably going to be the word huge. The budget handset with 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display and enormous battery is in our office and we are about to see how good it is.

This is one of the few mid-range phones in Samsung's portfolio that's powered by a Qualcomm SoC. The Snapdragon 730G sits behind the wheel paired with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. The best part is that the storage in both cases is 128GB, which is also expandable.

Arguably the most notable feature is the humongous 7,000 mAh battery supporting reverse charging (so you can use it as a power bank). While most mid-range and even high-end devices stop at around the 5,000 mAh mark, the M51 delivers a hefty unit inside a rather manageable 9.5mm thick body. The weight is less than ideal at 213g, but it's not even that bad for a phone of this size.

Quite possibly, this could be the next endurance champion in our battery ranking.Samsung claims that the 25W-capable charger that comes bundled with the phone will charge it from 0 to 100% in 115 minutes. That may sound a lot but this is a 7,000 mAh unit we are talking about. Stay tuned for the full review to find out how the Galaxy M51 will fare in our real life tests.

The phone also carries 5 cameras on board. The main has a 64MP sensor and f/1.8 aperture, the ultrawide snapper reads 12MP f/2.2, while a 5MP f/2.4 unit is used for macro photography and another 5MP sensor is tasked with collecting depth information. The cutout on the front of the display is for a 32MP f/2.0 selfie cam.

The review of the handset is already underway and we'll be able to share where the Galaxy M51 impresses and where it fails at some point next week.

Thank you for your promotion. Didn't realise that's the best part of a mobile smartphone. To keep plugging it into a wall every hour for quickcharge. What next? Rotary dialling and typing?

The Indian unit of this phone is just bad. Battery feels like 3000mah, inconsistent camera performance and very heavy to hold.
