So, have had this phone since launch. Uploaded to 4.0.2 yesterday but still have the following issues:
Downloads stop when screen goes into standby. This also causes certain spps and programs to pause. Really frustrating as it means having to keep touching the screen to stop in sleeping.
Still significant keyboard lag in landscape.
Device has a tendancy to turn itself off and not come back on until battery removed.
Is anyone else experiencing these issues?
Is the Nexus screen scratch-resistant? I noticed that the glass is NOT made of Corning Gorilla glass.
Is the Oleophobic coating resistant to scratch ?
Anonymous, 10 Jan 2012anyone knows how much it cost now in the US, in europe and how much will it cost in lebanon? The galaxy nexus would be around $800 USD not less
My partne/ work colelgues all have the iphone4S and after much deliberation and discussions with IT friends, ordered the Nexus just to be difficult and break the norm.
The Nexus is very fast and smooth and supercedes the iphone in many ways for example screen, HD recording, speed, general functionality etc etc etc.
ICS is extremly well thought through with minimal issues (as you would expect from any new launch. this includes apple).
The battery life is not great when you are using the phone non stop but a number of tips/ apps/using setting (correctly)can be installed which make a remarkable difference (juice defender).
The Nexus has a major advantage, I can buy a spare battery and number of desktop charges allow you both phone and extra battery to be charged.
The Voice app is not great and Apple wins with Siri but again you can replace (as i did) and the new app-my personal assistant will give Siri a run for its money.
Volume was not as i expect but again the app Volume+ sorted it.
Apart from that the phone/software is first class and very slick. My favourite elements include desktop fucntionality ( shortcuts/ widgets/ navigation and the way the phone interfaces with any laptop/pc. Face recognition is very good.
My partner and collegues spend more time on my phone than I do and on a 10 person vote, only 1 person would not swap their iphone for my nexus.
In my opinion, Samsung/Google have launched an innovative piece of software and phone to match the majority of consumers expectations who do not want or wish to move away from the lack lustre iphone.
piece of crap phone, 12 Jan 2012This phone is the worst phone i have ever had. Cost me $300 and it has so many glitches to it.... moreI just bought my 2nd Nexus and I am sure you do not owen this phone and you just iPhone Fan and like bad mouth Nexus. not saying I do owen iPhone 4S and I love my iPhone too. But you do not have to bad mouth the phone you no like. today market share tell you what consumer prefer to owen.
This phone is the worst phone i have ever had. Cost me $300 and it has so many glitches to it. Dont get me wrong, its an awesome phone when its not glitching on you. Like today, i got the same text from someone 10 times in a row. Then when i was talking on the phone, it froze up, and started making this weird noise that movies make when they are scratched.I had to turn my phone off and back on because it wouldnt let me make any calls. Then when i turned it back on, i had to wait 5 minutes to make a call again. And another thing, the keyboard sucks on this. Maybe its just me but i have a hard time typing on this thing. Its ridicoulous. Well anyway, if i could get my money back and get a new phone, i would get the iphone 4s. Heard it is a very reliable phone. So to brief what i just said, this phone sucks and i strongly reccomend, not to get this phone.
I have been using both Galaxy Nexus and IPhone 4 S for two Weeks now, and found the Nexus superior in every ways. But, could not resist IPhone 4S
Anonymous, 10 Jan 2012Ok so good specs. Nice hd 720 screen but here's the problem. I have the galaxy s2 lte and my r... moreI agree with you totally on Battery life of Galaxy S2 but this is not same problem with some other Android phones. I have the Motorola RAZR, Sony Xperia and Galaxy Nexus the Battery life is much longer than Galaxy S2. The best one is Nexus goes over two days easily. I can put my Galaxy S2 next to me and without using it watching battery going down. So, I am selling all 3 Galaxy S2 in family and replacing them with Nexus.
Also have problem with Typing on Galaxy S2 spell checker and i know is not only me having this problem. But this problem has been fix on Nexus
My last phone was an iphone 3gs, the Galaxy Nexus is better in every way - the OS is superb, HD screen in awesome, size is just right (iphones now are unnacceptably small to me). I also prefer the openness of Android compared to the Apple/Itunes route. Simple drag and drop for music as opposed to continually syncing with itunes. Last thing, it runs classic game emulators perfectly - NES, SNES, Gameboy, Genesis, etc all on my phone...can't compare, very happy.
Just had my Samsung Galaxy Nexus.. Been using it for a couple of days now. The first issue that i encountered was its Accelerometer. It doesn't respond well.. Is there anybody else who has the same experience ? What do u think is the problem? Can anyone help me find a solution to adress this issue? Is it the new Icecream Sandwhich (android 4.0.2)? Plss help.. Thanks!
