Introduction

The entry-level Galaxy phones are usually launched in 4G and 5G versions, and the latest Galaxy A15 is no different. The new Samsung Galaxy A15 5G is an identical twin to the Galaxy A15 4G, but one that has access to 5G networks.

The Galaxy A15 5G employs the same 6.5-inch Super AMOLED screen of 1080p resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. It features the same triple camera on the back - a 50MP primary, a 5MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro. Even the selfie shooter remains the same - a 13MP imager with 1080p video capturing.

The 5G version is powered by an identical 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support.

The only difference between the Galaxy A15 4G and the Galaxy A15 5G is the chipset - Helio G99 vs. Dimensity 6100+ 5G. And it is only found in the modem, as the processor, the GPU and the storage options remain the same.

Samsung Galaxy A15 5G review

The Galaxy A15 5G is a well-connected phone with Wi-Fi 5 support, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS, and it also comes with a 3.5mm jack and a microSD slot - features that are almost extinct.

Samsung Galaxy A15 5G specs at a glance:

  • Body: 160.1x76.8x8.4mm, 200g; Glass front, plastic back, plastic frame.
  • Display: 6.50" Super AMOLED, 90Hz, 800 nits (HBM), 1080x2340px resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 396ppi.
  • Chipset: Mediatek Dimensity 6100+ (6 nm): Octa-core (2x2.2 GHz Cortex-A76 & 6x2.0 GHz Cortex-A55); Mali-G57 MC2.
  • Memory: 128GB 4GB RAM, 128GB 6GB RAM, 128GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 8GB RAM; microSDXC (uses shared SIM slot).
  • OS/Software: Android 14, One UI 6.
  • Rear camera: Wide (main): 50 MP, f/1.8, AF; Ultra wide angle: 5 MP, f/2.2; Macro: 2 MP, f/2.4.
  • Front camera: 13 MP, f/2.0, (wide).
  • Video capture: Rear camera: 1080p@30fps; Front camera: 1080p@30fps.
  • Battery: 5000mAh; 25W wired.
  • Connectivity: 5G; Hybrid Dual SIM; Wi-Fi 5; BT 5.3; NFC; 3.5mm jack.
  • Misc: Fingerprint reader (side-mounted); Virtual proximity sensing.

Splash resistance is the only thing we wish was added. Many other similarly entry-level phones from Xiaomi and Motorola offer such basic ingress protection, and the Galaxy A1x deserves such treatment as well.

Unboxing the Galaxy A15 5G

The Galaxy A15 5G ships inside a thin white box that contains the phone itself and a 3A-rated USB-C cable.

There is no charger inside, nor is there a screen protector.

Frustrating and terrible phone, the massive screen only serves to maximize constant, unintended activation in your pocket. Take a call and the screen comes on and the slightest touch of your face to it will start up live text transcription or god kno...

The 5G with the 4gb ram model is just something else, with the One Ui 8 the phone just runs slower and apps closes random in the background. This phone is like for a teenager first phone, not everyday phone.
