It is questionable as to what CCD image sensor, optical lens has been employed in this phone. We know that the camera has a higher Mp, but the Mp is unimportant. For now the Wave & Galaxy S employ the same optical lens, CCD image sensor at 5Mp & the quality is easily discernable. You just can not accept the amount of artifact compression noise, dropped frames that are very visible, laggy especially in low light. Maybe the CPU is the cause or the bottlneck, but I should think the 720Mhz CPU can handle 1280x720P should it not? If this is the case, then the CCD, lens or some other anomoly is the cause for the poor Video qualitywhich isn't HD!
So I got mine in yesterday. Had it for one day. The next day it froze on me, so I tuned off cell. Afterwards, it would not boot up. it got stuck on the "Android" logo loading screen. I did the usual.. remove battery and after a few retrys, it failed to boot up. Sad now, I have to send it back to Samsung. When it was working, the projector was cool!!

yeah i think i'll be able to use my pc as a DLNA server
however i dont get how it really work(short on time to google, )
so can i stream live stuff? an example, can i stream watever im doing on the pc, to the mobile's projector? :)
thats exactly wat i want.. i can just connect wii to the pc, and run at fullscreen (i dont have a tv atm)
some sites said that wii got Dlna :S, i dont think but anyhow, if so, would it connect to the beam(via server)?
i know its a bit offtopic, but this is the ONLY thing keeping me from buying the beam :)

Worst is that it was released in Singapore via StarHub and its even removed from their website as of this morning(could be earlier I checked today after couple of days)
Hey people, I have my doubts but I think an app could be made to use the Beam as an input for the projector. Eg projecting your computer screen into the projector.
imagine the beam with froyo it become just like a galaxy S hé hé
improved video too :P
But now when i look to exemples i see the beam is more better than htc and my htc desire after update of froyo too ;)
[deleted post]Oh, well yeah, HTC seems outclassed in regards of the video recording, guess the situation is the same with photo quality. Hmm but comparing these videos to wave and galaxy s, hmm, I think they're about the same and it's hard to tell which one's look better, cause no direct comparison has been made. :/ I don't think it's recording is worse than wave or galaxy s.
give this a try first , if its still worst, then curse again :D
I found some more youtube videos for Beam. Comparing them to the iphone 4. The beam doesn seem to have some more noise over iphone 4 or galaxy wave, samsung s. But what do you think? For me it could have been better!

I just hope that the code *28*346# for louder music works on this phone.
anyone knows if there is a video in, for the projector
for example, if i want to connect a gameconsole(playstaion/wii etc) or a simple satalite receiver ..

I think, and this is just a guess you understand, that judging from the info I've read on the net, the Samsung Beam could be released in the U.K. around about the 17th August. That's a month after its release in Singapore. Then taking into account a couple of weeks to get from the dealer to me, I guess I will have my phone by the end of August which will just about be the third quarter of the year as predicted on the net.
tictoc, 28 Jul 2010Where did you order your phone. Was it from the UK and what makes you think it will be next week.I ordered straight through a Singapore phone website. Theres quite a few around. I paid 990 SGD including shipping and insurance.
I expect arrival next week to me coz it will be shipped from Singapore today or tomorrow :P
I don't see why this handset will not be released in Europe specifically the UK where I am situated. Samsung not releasing this phone will mean a huge loss of revenue in my opinion. I currently have the Nokia 5800 and will get this phone as my first choice or the Nokia N8 as my second choice. Both have strong batteries which is a massive draw. The Samsung Galaxy is not in my short list as the camara has no flash. The Iphone 4G no chance at all. It doesn't interest me and I am not a sheep easily influenced by the Steve Jobs marketing. Will this get the Android 2.2 upgrade anybody? I think this will cheaper than the N8 and the N8 has no video light. I have been into Nokia for most of the time and feel its time to switch camp.
