Samsung Android Touch UI

Today Samsung lifted the curtain of four Android-running smartphones. We've got the mid-range Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830, the slightly lower placed Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660 and the entry-level couple Samsung Galaxy Fit S5670 and Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570.

All of the new handsets run Android 2.2 Froyo and pack quad-band GSM/EDGE, 3G with HSDPA supports plus A-GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and microUSB. They all have the Samsung custom TouchWiz launcher preinstalled too.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 jumped the gun and appeared on the Indonesian site of the company yesterday. You can follow this link for a bunch of live shots of the device or you can check out the hands-on video in our blog.

The only new information we got today is the immediate availability of the handset in Russia, with the rest of Europe and Asia to follow in the first half of the year.

Just like the Galaxy Ace, the Samsung Galaxy Gio S5600 packs an HVGA TFT screen, but its size is reduced from 3.5" down to 3.2". Its CPU is clocked at 800 MHz, while the fixed-focus camera at the back is capable of producing 3 megapixel images.

The Samsung Galaxy Fit S5670 (previously leaked as Galaxy Suit) comes with a more promising 5 megapixel autofocus snapper, but its 3.31-inch QVGA LCD display doesn't sound too inspiring. The processor running the whole thing is going at 600 MHz.

Finally, we have the Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570. It's the one with the humblest specs sheet, built around a 3.14-inch QVGA screen and a 600 MHz CPU.

Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570

We managed to get a Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570 unit so we are also able to provide you with some live shots of the brand new device.

The Galaxy Fit, Gio and Mini trio should hit the shelves somewhere in the first quarter of this year.

All those phones look basically the same. The Ace could have a secondary camera for video calls and the battery could be at least 1500 mAh. Another important thing is dual sim support - adding another modem and sim slot is pretty cheap, yet Samsung D...
