Samsung Bada Android Touch UI

The Samsung S8500 Wave is the world's first DivX Certified for HD phone with the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S close behind. Also, the Samsung Wave is available for preorder in the UK not long after it showed up in German online stores.

The Samsung S8500 Wave is the first to bring two exciting new products from Samsung - Bada OS and the stunning Super AMOLED screen.

Also a first for the Wave is the DivX HD certification - it can play 720p videos with the best of them. That's great and all, it would have been perfect with a a mini HDMI out.

The recently announced Samsung I9000 Galaxy S is getting the certificate too, though it will be a while before it hits the market. The Galaxy S runs a heavily customized Android 2.1. The Galaxy S boasts a Super AMOLED screen too, but it's 4" versus the 3.3" screen of the Wave.

Both phones pack 5-megapixel cameras capable of capturing 720p video and are at the cutting edge of connectivity - both feature 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0. The Samsung S8500 Wave comes with either 2GB or 8GB of internal memory while the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S packs either 8GB or 16GB.

The Samsung S8500 Wave showed up at a couple of German online stores a couple of days ago, but today it appeared in a UK store too. It's up for preorder for 339 pounds (380 euro). The release is set for May 17.
