Zephyron, 03 Mar 2012You're right on this one The 2012 Xperia series take a departure from the old OMTP standard... moreThanks a lot Zeph.., to clarify this thing, glad to know that my premium brand earphones (well there're so many brands as you mentioned, doesn't sound premium anymore lol) are compatible with this phone. Incompatibility with the older headsets is only 12% disappointing, hehe
omom, 03 Mar 2012Can it read .AVI movies?? very important for me... tnxNot with the default video player, but MX Video Player can take care of that no problem
It will be rendered in Software mode however
Just what is the bitrate of the .avi file in question here? You're not talking about RAW uncompressed AVI files are you?
Have some photoshots of the Xperia S performing under DIRECT sunlight
Photoes were taken by the Xperia arc S
The screen brightness was set onto 50% brightness during all these shots
On the 2nd shot, which is angled, the sunlight hits the top of the Xperia S, and the XS looks brighter in real life as the camera of the Xperia arc S cannot handle the dynamic range
Sales Girl, 03 Mar 2012Thanks.
And what about the 3.5mm CTIA audio jack on these NXT series phone, is that means ... moreYou're right on this one
The 2012 Xperia series take a departure from the old OMTP standards, and that does mean that headsets (note, headsets, not headphones or earphones) such as the original Livesound and the accessories that come with the older Xperia phones are completely incompatible with the new Xperia S
It is because of this, that I've ditched using the Livesound and am toting around the fragile Earsonics SM3 instead
Zephyron, 03 Mar 2012Don't forget AKG, Earsonics, Equation Audio, Etymotic Research, Ultimate Ears, Westone, Vsonic... moreThanks.
And what about the 3.5mm CTIA audio jack on these NXT series phone, is that means we can not use our headsets from our older Xperias ? (i guess they're OMPT model, am I right?) Usually I look for one which is labeled as iPhone compatible.
I think the Xperia S is a gr8 fone. Seriously waiting for it, now I realize wot I've bin missing since I got the dumbest smartphone called blackberry.
Just had a little play with this in the office as a test handset and albeit the handset is nice, the screen is nowhere near as crisp and clear as the Nexus.
Sales Girl, 03 Mar 2012Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, or Shure, if talking about premium quality headsets.Don't forget AKG, Earsonics, Equation Audio, Etymotic Research, Ultimate Ears, Westone, Vsonic and several others
Anonymous, 02 Mar 2012Just read the preview. I know benchmarks don't tell the whole story but how come if the xperia... moreThe reason why the Xperia S performs so much better compared to there Sensation XE, despite the screen resolution disadvantage, is because hardware is only half of the equation.
Software optimizations written by the Sony Mobile software engineering department makes much better use of the same hardware than the HTC development team did.
