Samsung is getting ready to launch the W27, its latest China-exclusive luxury foldable, and the device has now appeared in a leaked photo. According to a well-known tipster, it will be unveiled on October 29, and its specs are identical to those of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.
As you can see below, the image shows the back of the W27. It's dark blue, with gold accents on the frame and the camera island, and the W series' gold seal logo near the bottom. The triple camera setup and the pill-shaped island are the same as on the Fold8 Ultra, which fits the claim that the two phones share their specs.
If you're not familiar with the W series, every year Samsung releases a fancier version of its current Fold that is exclusive to China and sold through China Telecom. These phones get premium designs, usually in black and gold, more RAM than the global models, and bigger retail packages with extra goodies.
Last year's W26 was based on the Galaxy Z Fold7 and added satellite calling and messaging through China's Tiantong system. Both its 512GB and 1TB versions came with 16GB RAM, and it was available in red and black, both with gold accents. Prices started at CNY 16,999 ($2,390), and the 1TB model cost CNY 18,999 ($2,670).
Since the W27 is a Fold8 Ultra underneath, expect a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset at the helm, an 8-inch foldable display, a 6.5-inch cover display with 120Hz refresh rate, a 200MP main camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery, all of which we tested in our Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra review. The Fold8 Ultra already comes in a 16GB RAM/1TB storage version, and judging by the W26, the W27 will likely have 16GB RAM as standard. It's still unclear how much it will cost, but we should find out in a week.
