This is a very bad remark ever made by a world renown organization! U are selling this product, the next day u condemn it like never happened before. It's like a suicide marketing efforts to your brand image. SE should have informed to the world that "we are going to focus on developing new device base on S60 or WinMo. While improvement or bug fix will still be carried out to our previous device models". I do hope SE can consider what I'm trying to say here. Pls do not leave your users who have been using your device for that moment. Do upgrade the latest UIQ software for your good sake. And in fact, UIQ OS is impressive enough if true R&D evolve.

Ive seen this comming, UIQ is slow, unreliable and not by far nice enough in the graphics. usuing the P990 i know this allll to well. sony made mistake after mistake with there phones and im sure these failures are one of the resons for the Xpedia that usues Windows instead of UIQ. maybe sony could take some of the S60 succes to there phones, these interfaces have proven there functionality and stability.

Sony Ericsson did not respect their UIQ customers especially with UIQ removed, so for why you still use UIQ Phone? sell your UIQ Phone right now while prices are still there because UIQ now is nothing , UIQ is now only memories and garbage.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2008-10-23 14:39 from q{itI guess UIQ was 2 smart 4 u. Go 4 something with no OS.:D mayb that would help u more.
I got everythin in 1 click in my devices mayb u read z manual vice versa:D
Concerning the p990i ur right SE was too stupid 2 release a not working phone:) they were looking for selling Items . They don't respect there clients whereas they would have waited 4 z bugs 2 b fixed b4 releasing that Item. Clients are becoming betatesters with no bugfixing which lead to a dead end. SE is goin down with or without UIQ. UIQ was the only good thing they had

UIQ RIP? Oh yeah. I see this coming. But as an UIQ active user (SonyEricsson W960) I feel sad and angry because it's really hard for me to switch from S60 to UIQ. Before this I always trust my S60 devices, but when I finally bought W960 last april... suddenly the UIQ RIP news appeared (Symbian Foundation). What I can say is UIQ really helps me a lot in my daily routines and more technically robust than S60. Well after this the latest S60-5th Edition will gonna be my cup of tea. Good Luck Symbian Foundation and thanx a million UIQ Tech. U guys really make my day!

It's a stupid step from SE they ended something so beautiful you know y?? the Reason is SE they didn't even bother themselves to update firmwares they released more models than they did bug fixing.
SE mobiles were becoming harder to manipulate less functioning with nothing to add. My 3.2 megapix cam can't take a clear snapshot. My dum nokia 6300 with its 2 megapix cam was better big times.
I'm holding at the moment to lines one using p800 and the other using p1i.Having the first and last model of UIQ is not becoz i'm SE fan.IT was only the OS.
Goin 2 shift 4 Samsung omnia it's my last resort.

I have owned 3 UIQ phone in the past. I gave SE 3 chances to make this UI better and they failed 3 times. The P800 and the P910 were just not user friendly at all and were overpriced. The P990 which I bought as soon as it came out was the worst phone I have ever owned Its at the bottom of my list of 28 phones I've owned. I sold that thing after only 2 weeks. The UI was absolute rubbish. How is it that it takes over 10 steps to send a sms, thats ridiculous. Symbian s60 is the best combination of business usefullness and entertainment value. S60 is also extremely customizable that way you can set up the menus the font size the coulors the themes any way you like to suit you. I have used and owned a few WinMo devices myself but the slow performance, the poor displays the need for 2 hand operation the bugs, the bugs, the bugs and more buggy bugs I've had to deal with made mu user experience horrible. UIQ is dead... good! now maybe SE will use S60

> In reply to after @ 2008-10-23 10:39 from jW$JIf sony will leave ericsson, then sony will be doomed and ericsson will be wiped out on the mobile map. Samsung and LG have already developed their own non smart interfaces both for touch screens and and non touch screen phone in the simpliest form and they are not far behind. In fact both samsung and lg are making great strides in mobile market. So Sony and Ericsson must rely for each other.

so the conlusion is that, do not use symbian or any smart operating sytem which you do not really needed or understand how to operate, just because it can easily customize the phone, unless you are a software geek or you are a business person. The bottom line is just pick the simplest phone which suites your need. I mean, if you are a multimedia person then use a simpleist multimedia phone. There are lots of there in the market.
