Nice post, ccl. I agree. As much as i luv my N82 and think it is one of the greatest phones ever made, i will remain critical n honest with any problems. Like PCs or anything electronic, all phones do crash. Nothing is built do be perfectly working everyday. An SE phone was going to be my next choice until Nokia added a stronger Xenon n surpassed the SE Kseries in the camera battle. The fact Nokia can go toe to toe with Canon, Casio, Kodak, Olympus, Sony, etc amongst sub-$250 point n shoot cams with a N82 tells me Nokia means business.

No yellowish tones in my pix. Neither purple which was found in N95-1 with no firmware updates. My 7MP Sony DSC-W55 is better in macro mode in darker settings N82 is good outdoors in macro tho. Under default, N82 records brighter videos than W55. Just started using voice recorder. Can record more than 1min. Good for college lectures. At best, this a 5/5 star phone. At worst, no less than 4.5 (90%) stars. Still an A-class phone if there is no such thing as perfection.

@ Coma... Cool photos to bring your point across. We all have to remember that this phone is not an SLR, but for a point and shoot its well capable of doing the job.

@ J, All I did for the Snapple photo was change the setting from Auto to Closeup on the popup menu. For the bookshelf I just used auto, point and shoot.
Maybe you are not holding the camera still? I don't know, but all of my pictures are coming out GREAT! Now if I could just remember to close the lens cover when I'm done.. I always forget lol..

I don't agree with people saying phone take yellowish photo either u people don't own this phone or you are using "Chiness toy copy of Nokia N82" just stop posting crap and also Nokia uses same CARL ZEISS lenses used by SONY CYBERSHOT digital camera.

that's what I did when I took close up.but it still isn't very clear.My old phone N93i was still sharper when it came to close up shots.but N82 still beats N93i at background view.
Oh yeah..the flash lives up to it's hype.dark room pix with the flash on looks like some1 turned on the fluorescent lights.

@ albertchong... Yes it is compatible to view office documents. If you want to edit the documents you would need to purchase and update a new version with edit function. This whole process is done entirely on the phone.
Its the same with Nokia GPS. You would need to subscribe and download the navigation feature. I believe that this is fair.
Nothing in life is free. Why would this be any different? Whats you view on this. Also, note some or most of the Nokia software is subjected to fees. This is due to the fact is 3rd party and not even developed by Nokia themselves. Hell Symbian is even another company.

@ Y'all!! N82 better than all the rest!!IMHO!
@ Jo23... Did you update the firmware? after receiving it? I'm guessing not. I believe you had a really bad experience. How can the warranty be void after 3/4 months!!! Was it pre-owned??? Nokia offer up to 2 years warranty when new... well at least here in Europe. If you had bought it and you weren't satisfied by say within the 4 weeks you can send it back to the retailer, if not! you should have got it repaired from an authorized Nokia retailer. If you didn't send it to an authorized dealer for repair the fault is yours, Not Nokia and hence the voiding of your handset.
I haven't had one crash on my phone and guess what!!! I've had it for 2 months now!! I got one of the first batches here in Sweden. Made from over the Baltic waters in Finland! Your experience is unfortunate but the blame cannot be solely on Nokia.

@jo23,
Do you realize how many units of cellphones come out of Nokia factories every day? How many satisfied Nokia users are out there globally? Does one, two, three or even one thousand cases of bricked phones, buggy OSes mean Nokia is a such a bad brand?
Frankly from an IT person and a businessman's perspective your views aren't conclusive. It does not mean that if your sister's phone gives up on her it already means that Nokia is such a poor manufacturer. Even in IT there is no such as thing as perfection. Units go over strict QC but it cannot be avoided for some to appear as lemons. From the experience of my very own friends SE phones die by the ratio of 4:5 meaning 4 out of 5 units they have owned either end up dead or defective. I seriously doubt that is the case with Nokia.
Let us not forget that is a user review/opinion thread not a Nokia bashing thread so non-Nokia users and haters should not utilize this thread as if its their very own venue for lashing back at Nokia. N82 users must share both their bad and good experiences here that's all or people can even inquire about its features here.
Again, this is not an ani-Nokia forum. If you hate Nokia so much send them millions of emails everyday but please avoid using this thread as rant thread. Thanks a lot for your cooperation.
