Best Phones of 2018: the winners

Weekly poll Featured

We have our winners - the best phones of 2018 have been selected, thank you to everyone who voted. There was one upset, but strong performance in the preliminary voting was pretty indicative of how well phones fared in the final vote.

Samsung takes home the prestige Flagship award. However, outside of the premium category Android One devices dominated with wins for HMD and Xiaomi. Now, allow us to hand out the awards.

Best Flagship of 2018

The Samsung Galaxy Note9 scored a clear victory, it collected the highest number of votes in any category. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro put up a good fight but ended up second best. We guess the S Pen is mightier than the Leica triple camera.

Best Mid-ranger of 2018

Despite placing only 3rd in the preliminary stage, the Nokia 8.1 gets the crown in this category. Incredible performance for a phone that was announced this month (sort of, the X7 has been shipping in China for a while). Second place goes to another Android One handset, the Xiaomi Mi A2.

Best Entry level phone of 2018

The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite brings another victory for Android One and scores points for Team Xiaomi. The Motorola One - yet another Android One entry (outside of China at least) - is the runner-up in this category.

See you again next year - things will get exciting from the get-go as CES 2019 starts on January 8 and the MWC will kick off at the end of February.

Unnatural color algorithm by Huawei AI camera can get the best winner lol. Why people love oversaturated color over oversharpening image, I am not talking you but you did.
