MY INFINIX S5 REVIEW (AFTER 8 MONTHS OF CONTINUOUS USE)
I bought this phone in December 2019, and honestly, for the first few months, it was a love affair. The front camera left much to be desired (a little shake and your picture would be blurred as hell), but all in all, it worked great and was the perfect replacement for the nightmare that was my Tecno (sigh).
Unfortunately, the love affair was short-lived. By month three, the keyboard began to hang, and as a consummate texter, this was a big no-no for me. Yet, despite this inconvenience, I persevered. At the four-month mark, the charger spoiled, and I opted to go to the local Infinix outlet here in Surulere to buy an "original" charger (thinking this would be better than a generic alternative). Oh boy, was I in for a shock! Ladies and gentlemen, so far, I have bought not one, not two, but three replacement "original" Infinix chargers since then!
But my woes did not end there. Oh no!
Enter month six. The charging port started acting up. What used to take three hours (tops!) to charge from zero to 100%, started delivering a 50% (and sometimes 25%) charge in the same amount of time. I went everywhere with my charger(s) for fear of needing a boost in the middle of the day. The most bewildering, exasperating, and soul-draining evolution of this particular problem was when the battery began to drain even when plugged in! I would plug the phone in at 20% and come back to see it at 14%. Only when the battery ran out completely (to 0%) would the phone begin to charge for real, and even then, the best I could hope for was 67% tops (literally the highest it's ever gotten to since this started) after being plugged overnight!
My breaking point happened in early July (month 7) after the phone came back from repair. It worked fine for a few days, sometimes charging to 63% or 59% after a full night's charge. Then suddenly, it started acting up again. Skip to month 8. Now the phone does not charge anymore. I was asked to bring it in for a second repair (since it's still under warranty), but I've decided not to waste my time or energy on this useless phone anymore.
As they say, you get what you pay for.
At this point, it's just a useless piece of plastic to me. I'm going back to using Nokia (which was what I used exclusively before my foray into the world of cheap garbage a la Techno and Infinix). No more cheap phones for me. It's too expensive a price to pay.
My advice to anyone who still wants to buy this phone is this: Look before you leap. And get ready to make several trips to your local Infinix store (every single month) down the line. I rest my case.

I don't think it's settings, visit technician.

For Gamers:
Helio P22 isn't ideal for gaming. Games like COD, Mobile Legends and Free Fire will play fine, but don't expect high FPS in PUBG.
If you download PGT+ Pro or other gfx tools from Trilokia, you can get around 30FPS in PUBG. 30FPS is enough to play without lag, but for good gaming experience, you need around 40FPS.
If you want 40FPS in PUBG, go with phones that have Snapdragon 636/660/665, Helio P60/P70/G70, Kirin 710/710F or similarly/more powerful chipsets.
Most of them will also need any gfx tool from Trilokia to get 40FPS.
Camera review:
Its camera is among best ones I've seen in its price in Pakistan. It would be perfect but it has 2 shortcomings.
Lowlight:
In lowlight (inside house/artificial light), the quality is very impressive. The pictures are clear, have good details and low noise. Overall, you can easily take good pictures sitting in your room/restaurants/park etc.
The edge detection of portraits is very good in both daylight & lowlight as well. But I personally don't like blur quality of Infinix phones, so you need to use some skills.
Daylight:
All phones have good camera quality in daylight, so there isn't much to say. The details are pretty good and grass/foliage is also captured better than many other phones (better then redmi note 8).
Videos:
The video quality is excellent. Videos have good clarity, details and noise is kept low even in lowlight settings. A single street light is enough to record good quality from its selfie camera at night, which has impressed me.
The selfie camera seems to have a little bit of stabilisation as well.
It can also record videos with its ultra wide angle camera. The quality is as average like from any ultra wide camera, but colours are kept better than main camera.
Shortcomings:
In areas with a lot of foliage/plans/grass, its main camera tends to boost/pop colours too much. Ultra wide camera doesn't have this issue, so Infinix should be able to fix it in updates if they want.
Secondly, it doesn't have Slowmo. I think Huawei Y6s or some other phone in similar price offers it. Realme 3 costs 1-2K more and it also has it, although camera quality is a bit less.
Thirdly, it should have Eis. It's not a big problem because Google Photos allows you stabilise videos after recording, but it's still a extra effort. With that kind of video quality, it would have been perfect with proper Eis.
QUOFI LINQUIST, 21 Jun 2020How can I fix my infinix S5 network problemYou can try changing network frequencies. Sometimes, phones get reception because your country uses different frequency bands than the country where phone was made.
You can also try resetting your device and report the issue to Infinix.
simmy, 22 Jun 2020i buy infinix s5 and its good but there is some flaws in it there is no proxmity sensorin it. ... moreNot sure about proximity sensor issue. Try going into bootloader and reset it. Resetting fixes most of the software related issues in phones.
It's normal for phones to heat up while charging.
And it's also normal for 4000maAh battery with 10watt charger to take 2.5-3 hours to charge.
Habib t olokodana, 22 Jun 2020My screen touch has bin malfunctioning since the first week I bought it. Please what can I do?... moreDon't give it to roadside repairman! If they open it, you won't be able to claim warranty.
Touch issue isn't always related to hardware. It can also by caused by software bug, which can only be fixed by Infinix in updates - not by any repairman.
I suggest joining Infinix community and ask other S5 users about it. Also contact Infinix pages & customer service regarding this issue.
Lastly, go to same shop you bought it from, tell him it has this issue and demand warranty claim even if he try to deny it. Some mobile shop keepers try to be clever and tell you your problem is not converted by warranty. Don't trust them, ask for proof.
My screen touch has bin malfunctioning since the first week I bought it. Please what can I do? I can't give it to all dis roadside phone repairers. Please where is ur office in alimosho, Lagos?

Yeboah Kyeade Bright, 19 Jun 2020Pls Anonymous am from Ghana sometimes people say infinix phones are not quality, pls is it true? It's not true, but I can't say it's wrong either. Please don't trust any brand blindly about quality, because all bands make both good and bad quality phones.
So you've to check if the *phone* you like is made of good quality or not.
How to check quality:
1. Join groups of that phone on Facebook, Telegram and XDA website. You can read reviews on Gsmarena, but they aren't very helpful.
Prefer reviews from people who sound knowledgeable or actually own that phone.
2. Google issues of that phone, like display/buttons/camera/charging problem in Infinix S5.
You'll find that all phones have such problems, but if multiple people are reporting same problem, you should become careful.
3. Watch durability tests of that phone on YouTube. Like drop test, scratch test, charging time, fingerprint test, water test etc.
Note: Don't listen to the YouTube guy making the video. Only pay attention to the test he is doing. Sometimes they are paid to say good things, or they say a phone is good quality because they personally like it.
Sometimes, they don't know much about phones so they tell you wrong things about phones as well.
This is the only way to tell you're buying good quality phone or not.
For example, Oppo usually makes good quality phones so I bought one without checking. 1 year later, it died and didn't turn on again. I searched on Google and found out other people also have this problem in that phone.
Similarly, I bought Redmi Note 7 and I faced many issues in it.
There are few brands like Xiaomi whose ratio of good quality phone is lower compared to other brands, BUT you can't say "All phones of this brand are of low quality".
My friend's Infinix phone worked fine for 3 years, but he dropped it badly and break its screen after that.
That's why durability tests are important.
