These answers may help you, Sajal.

1. Is it possible to store multiple numbers against single person in the phonebook and some ppl complained of not being able to store in the phone memory [only sim memory]

No, multiple numbers are not stored under 1 name. If you wish to put in 5 numbers for a specific contact, his name will appear 5 times.

Contacts can be saved on the phone while SMS messages are stored on SIM.. I have heard that you can have it configured to be saved using phone mem instead but you have to have it serviced.

2. Is the extended clap feature available with the e398 in Indian markets?

sorry, not in india.

3. Will it be possible to transfer games [jad/jar] to the phone via the cable.

Yes, I've done so, but you'll have to use several software to do that. Its not user friendly when it comes to that.

4. And any other cons, you feel about the mobile.

Everything about the phone book. Camera is not that great - worst night mode.. MP3 ringtones should be stored on phone mem and not on expandable mem.. Can't turn bluetooth permanently visible to others.. VERY RARE software for customization.

TO: Unknown (2004-09-06 07:21:42). Please dont be pathetic and talk in such a sarcastic manner.. its disgusting do u know that? for everybody's 'knowledge sake' as u said, no one is saying that we doesn't know most songs are avaliable at 128kbps. furthermore, did alfred mentioned anything about ripping it at higher bit rate? gosh.. u gotta wake up ur ideas before bullshitting all ur 'knowledges'.

Dear alfred , my phone is pre-loaded with 192 kbps mp3 named "Callin' out" and sounds awesome .So e398 supports more than 128 kbps u all can say . For ur knowledge sake I would tell u that most of mp3 songs avlbl are 128 kbps so it's preferable to edit them and rip them at 128 kbps or less to save memory , it's no use to rip at higher kbps bcoz it covers more space and even may cause distortion .

I currently have 97 sms'es in my inbox and my phone hasn't displayed the low memory message yet and even when my contacts and messages increase neither my phone nor Trans Flash memory decreases, so I think there is some other dedicated internal memory for messages & contact details.

not sure about the size taken by phonebk, but most probably its using de internal memory.

the package do not come with a bluetooth headset.

                    HI all,
A little knowlwdge about transfering mp3 songs to the E398.
It only accept 56 kbps to 128 kbps mp3 files. Any rate not within this range it will give you an error during transfer - whether bluetooth, USB and to the Transflash card.
This may be the reason for those who posted with tranfering problem with mp3.
Check you ripping application/program to see what rate it has set up.
In my experience, 128 kbps has the best sound quality but take about 3.7 to 4 magabyte per song. Even if you have a 128 mb transflash, not much songs can be carry with the phone.
So I rip my mp3 with different rate and found 64 kbps mp3 is ok.
It contains both quality of sound and relatively small size files - 2 mb per song. Hope this help!

What is the size taken for the phonebook which is capable of accepting 1000 entries?

Does the phonebook used the internal shared memory(5MB) or the T-Flash card, or both also can?

What is the bluetooth headset that comes together with the package?

Does the bluetooth headset have radio functionality?

I have more than 80 sms in my inbox. I think the no. of sms you can store depends on your available phone memory. Btw, there is delivery reports funtion in this phone. If your sms is not send to the other party, it will show sending in progress. :-)

To transfer video files (3gp/mp4) you just copy & paste to the video folder on the Trans Flash or send it throu the mobile phone tools program to the phone memory.

If you have any problems check if the connection settings on the phone is correct either phone/memory card. If the problem pursists turn off your phone leave for 2 seconds, turn back on and try again. Or if you have a SD card reader just use the SD adapter for the Trans Flash & copy the files throu the card reader.

I went back to the shop and got a new phone..it works better now, but only through the usb cable. Sometimes I get errors like "Acess Denied by mobile" of sorts too, but it works fine after i restart both the mobile software and my mobile. As for transferring through bluetooth, it only works fine for the phone memory, for the card memory, it's still pretty much screwed up.

Hello guys. Regarding the problem of transfering Mp3 files to the phone, it might have something to do with this: I bought it locked to a national operator ( EUR 290. ) and the assistant told me that all operations with the PC have to be performed without the T-flash card in. It sounded strange when she told me that. I thought: " Then, I can I transfer files bigger than the 5 Mb of the phone and then afterwards to the t-flash??" Might be the solution. Take the T-flash prior to any pc operation..
