The refined Motorola Razr 5G will be announced on the global stage on September 9 (next Wednesday), the company also has scheduled a second event for the following day – this one targeting the Chinese market specifically. Check out the “save the date” poster that Moto sent out.
Yes, those are Razr phones making up the digits. The clamshell foldable form factor is the key selling point of this phone (well, that and nostalgia as you can see in the teaser image below). Anyway, this is a creative way to show off the foldable design.
If you’re wondering what the phone will actually look like and have missed the previous leaks, check out these renders from a couple of days ago. The iconic chin has been slightly redesigned, however the rest of the exterior seems largely identical. The major improvements are on the inside – 5G being the major addition, of course.
Rumor has it that this will be enabled by a Snapdragon 765G chipset, which will get extra RAM and storage compared to the first foldable Razr (8/256 GB, up from 6/128 GB). Battery capacity will be bumped slightly and charging will be slightly faster at 18 W.
The solitary front and rear cameras are getting new sensors too – 48MP main, 20MP selfie. Not as good as having an ultra wide and a tele cam, but still an improvement. The make-or-break detail will be the pricing of the phone as there is already 5G-connected clamshell competition.
