I see the typical My Phone is better than yours is still raging.
The way i see it, each of us have their own preferences to what phone they want, and that's what makes us individuals, my personal taste is i prefer Samsung over apple, but that is my own personal choice, I've tried using apple products, but feel that they don't offer any choice of customizing their phones to make it "your" phone, 1000's of iphones all the same with icons, maybe the only difference is they're in as different order. With android phones at least you can change how they're all laid out and have different widgets / launcher set ups. But again that's down to us all being individuals and our own outlooks on how we want things done..
I don't think i'll upgrade from my note 4 to a note 5, there just doesn't seem to be much of a difference, maybe it'll be a bit faster.. I had a note 2 before and didn't go to a 3 as there wasn't that much of a difference, and skipped one number, maybe i'll wait for the note 6.
I did chuckle at the irony of the person using an iPhone to take a photo of a rival, but again that's all down to their preference to the phone they want to use..
I have a Note 3 since April 2014. I bought and i love it. I think it's the best of all phones available at the time. The S-Pen and AMOLED display are the best. It should be the standard and should be used by all phones and tablets.
Anyway, after just 1 month, i got very excited and already planned to buy the Note 4. But when i saw that the Note 4 Speaker is backward-facing, i got very annoyed. So i didn't buy one. I'm holding on to my Note 3. With that said, i have some suggestions for the Note 5. I wish Samsung will take take these into consideration.
Note 5 Suggestions
1.) Front Facing SPEAKERS*
-Stop copying iPhone's design. Samsung should try to beat Apple at the Front Facing Speaker design.
-I have a Note 3 since april 2014. And immediate i knew i wanted to upgrade to the Note 4. But when i saw that it has a backward facing speaker, i got very annoyed. So i didn't buy one. I'm holding on to my Note 3 while i wait for the Note 5. For me, Front Facing SPEAKERS should be the standard for all phones and tablets. I can't emphasise enough how stupid backward-facing speakers are. Even the side-firing speaker on my Note 3 is bad. I keep blocking the speaker in landscape mode.
-One Front facing Speaker will be a big improvement. But Dual or Stereo Front Speakers will be great.
2.) Capacitive-Touch Home Botton*
-I hate the physical home button. I don't wanna keep pushing or pressing a button everytime i wanna go to the home screen. I just wanna touch or tap the home button. And i hate the on-screen buttons, by the way. Samsung should never do that on their phones.
-Put the Finger Print Sensor at the back like the Huawei Ascend Mate 7. It very works very well. Or put the Finger Print Sensor right at the Power On/Off button, like one chinese phone manufacturer are planning to implement.
-The S6's top and bottom bezels are very big because of the big home button just to compensate for the fingerprint sensor. Big bezels doesn't look good.
3.) 6.5 Inch Display with 16:10 Aspect Ratio*
- I like the galaxy Mega 6.3 screen size. Big screen but still fits in my pocket comfortably. But the rest of the specs are disappointing. The Note 3 and 4's 5.7 inch screen size is still phone size. With 6.5 inch display, the Note 5 will be a real Phablet (Phone/Tablet).
- One-Handed use is already impossible since the Note 2's 5.5" display. So, sumsung should make the Note 5 as big as possible.
-QHD or 1440p screen resolution is enough.
-Sapphire protection for the display would be great.
4.) Removeable Back Cover*
-Wireless charging can be built in to the back cover. Or it can be optional.
-Better for Flip Cover Case. It wouldn't add so much thickness to the phone.
-Micro SD Card Slot and inter-changeable battery.
5.) Faux Leather Back Cover*
-I like the lether look and rubbery feel of it. It provides better grip and prevents the phone being very slippery. It Shouldn't be real leather because real leather will absorb sweat everyday. It will smell very bad in just after a month. (based on my past experince with wrist watch leather straps)
6.) ip68 Water & Dust Proof*
-Samsung's Galaxy "Active" phone versions are ugly. Water and dust protection should be built-in on the samsung flagship phones.
-If the Note 5 is ip68 and still has a removable back cover, it will be great.
7.) USB Type C Port*
-Faster Charging and faster wired data transfer.
8.) Dual SIM*
Don't make the micro sd card and second sim swapable. I wan't to use a second sim and micro sc card both at the same time.
aceofgenerations, 24 Jul 2015Now the question is, the Note 5 worth an upgrade over a Note 3? Decisions, decisions...Well I am using a Note 3 and the specifications have been changed on the Note 5. I think it is a worthy upgrade depending on what features you use. If the battery cannot be removed, one can always carry a powerbank in the event of low battery. People were complaining about Samsung and their plastic use but now that they are going along with metal and glass, this also seems to be a problem lol so no winning for Samsung. The only thing that may be a dealbreaker is the omission of MicroSD slot, but it would be best to wait for the launch in August
