Only a moron would think double efficiency of SoC would lead to double battery life all over. Some cases like gaming on a lower resolution will do wonders, like in G Flex which had 720p and SD800, the chip didn't have to work at full lead to reach highest FPS, and thus drained very little during gaming.

If you've got a QUAD HD or 4K screen nothing the CPU will do will double your battery life.

It won't really matter since these crazy manufacturers are just gonna make their new phones thinner and decrease the battery capacity even more.

Not to mention the insane manufacturers will probably lower battery capacity and keep battery life the same. Which is half of what it needs to be, at best - up to around 6h of on screen heavy usage.
